November 2022 Update

Our restaurant is temporarily closed for the remainder of the year. Our beloved chef for the last five years, Raul Parada, underwent brain surgery on November 2 and is currently at home recovering. We hope to re-open with him at the helm in early 2023 and will provide updates as we get closer to a re-opening date.

Given this difficult time, we have started a GoFundMe to support our restaurant staff.

 

Our History

​

Cooper and Arlene Giordano opened the doors of Le Bateau Ivre ("The Drunken Boat") on March 5, 1972. It occupies a converted French home built in 1898, with small additions c. 1932. 

​

We are so proud to have celebrated our 50th year in the Berkeley community this year. Please see our features in the Berkeleyside in January 2021 and May 2022 regarding our restaurant.
