Culture & History

The Loire Valley is renowned for its beautiful chateaux which provide fantastic scope to step back in time and immerse yourself in french nobility. All of the following are within easy reach of the accommodation: Chinon, Azay le Rideau, Rivau, Saumur, Villandry, Brézé, Ussé and the Fontvraud Royal Abbey.

Food & Wine

France is synonymous with incredible wine and the Loire is one of the jewels in its crown. Whether you enjoy a crisp white, a chilled rosé, some cheeky sparkling or a full bodied red, there is much to explore in these world-class wines. Our local vineyards offer the opportunity to taste and purchase produce at regional rates and will often include tours, special dining opportunities and other seasonal events.

A visit to the region would be incomplete without indulging in some French culinary delights. Fresh local produce is the name of the game, whether you fancy sampling this at one of the regional markets or enjoying a la carte in  a local restaurant, the gastronomy on offer is rich, varied, fresh and delicious. We can help you with suggestions and bookings if preferred.

Cycling

This area of France is relatively flat making this an ideal area for cycling. La Loire à Velo's unique UNESCO World Heritage route can be accessed via the Richelieu-Chinon Voie Verte. This is the old 20km steam railway line converted into a cycle track, with the stations adapted to provide a welcome comfort stop and an opportunity to replenish water bottles. Whether you are visiting towns, chateaux, or one of the many local vineyards,  a leisurely cycle provides plenty of opportunity to savour the beautiful countryside.
