It feels great being back at the gym after a couple of years off. Two things that are a must for me now that I'm a bit older are warm ups and stretching. Make sure your body warmed up before doing any heavy lifting. Brisk walking on the treadmill for 10-15 minutes is my warm up of choice. And once you are done your workout make sure to save some time to adequately stretch the muscles you worked on at the end. I know this can eat up your gym time, but these two things will make sure you can hit the gym tomorrow and again the next day. You won't have to sit out due to unnecessary injury.
