👇 good advice. I take the nap because I have to. My brain gets so overwhelmed and I try to let it rest for about 30 minutes a day. I typically feel guilty when I turn the phone back on and see I've missed calls and messages during that 30 minutes, but my brain needed a shut down. My additional advice is pray about it, too. 3 days a week I meet with friends and we workout and lift weights for about 45 minutes at 6 am. We then do about a 15 to 20 minute Bible study and prayer time. Currently, we've been reading through the Psalms and just finished with the section that Jesus would have read during the Passover. We've found that on those mornings we're together, strengthening our aging bodies, we're renewing our minds with God's Word. Therefore, we handle what gets thrown at us better than on the days we don't. We pray for each other before we leave on those mornings, because even though we have totally different careers, we all have stuff everyday that we and our loved ones have to deal with. Burnout can come quickly if you don't take a little time to stop. Interesting thing I just learned about the Sabbath day and when God told people to Rest on that day. The Rest meant to Stop. He stopped after He created everything on the 7th day. He tells us to Stop doing for our own good. He knows we need rest. Not only a few minutes a day to let the brain reset and refocus, but we need time to Stop, too.

Take the break. Take the nap. Take the walk. Take the time you need to reset. Rest is not lazy. I should title this video. Dear Amy Woodall because as much as I teach it, I need the reminder too. #consciousleadership #highachiever #conscioushabit

I always envy people that know their "Why". They can tell you they had a plan years ago, made a goal, and accomplished it. They even sometimes have a "road map " they followed and arrive at their planned destination. I have a different story and will likely never be able to tie my "why" to a career choice. At least not just one career. I love putting people together with what they need or want. Thats always been my "Why" ,but also I had to do something that I loved and make a living, too. When I was a young kid, I wanted a new pair of shoes ( story of my life must have started there lol). So, somehow I came across a way to sell greeting cards door to door to make some extra money. Bought those shoes and never could wear them. They were so tight and uncomfortable, but very cute!. Later on, the cutest pair of Nike shoes hit the shelves at a sporting goods store. I had to have them. I think I did some extra babysitting for my favorite neighbor kids to earn the money to buy those . The 80's had some really cool clothes and hairstyles( pretty sure I had the tallest bangs in town. Even on the softball field). I needed money for both. I took my 1st full time job when I was 13 at the local ice cream shop. I think it paid $2.25 an hour. I was a homeschooled kid in a time before it was cool. I loved the visiting I could do while making Banana Splits and serving milkshakes. I learned that I loved to socialize and loved seeing people happy with their frozen treats. I also knew that my Granny was really not into these new crazy hairstyles and going to the beauty shop just wasn't feasible all the time, so I decided then, that I'd do hair myself one day. I finished my schooling about a year early. Worked in grocery stores, restaurants, and pizza places throughout those teenage years and during beauty school. Opened my 1st shop when I was about 20. I loved the people interaction and when I could accomplish the perfect cut or color. All sorts of life happened and I worked in a couple different hair shops and finally ended up again with my own in 2007, besides working other part-time jobs. My feet were killing me by the time I was 40. I knew for a few reasons, besides my feet, I needed and wanted to do something different. I'm not for sure how I decided on Real Estate, but I did. It took a while for me to do the classes between work, kids and other things, but I finally got them done and went to work part time with a Real Estate company. The 1st year I was involved in 18 transactions. And I Loved it ! I continued with hair until that awful 2020 and finally fully retired. Started my own Real Estate Company in 2017 with the help of my 1st Realtor, Jami, and the prayers and advice of many friends and family. Now we're 7 :) Knowing your "Why" may not be one career path. Your "Why" may be many careers with the same point to all of them. Mine is making people's lives better and seeing them happy with whatever the service I'm providing is. 💛
