Upgrade to COBOL 6.4 results in 0C1 abends when compiling user written functions. The new COBOL 6.4 compiler offers the possibility to create your own written functions. There is two problems with this: 1). The functions has to be in the same compile unit, would have been nice to have the possibility to have them as separate compiled artifacts. The workaround is to have them in copybooks like C include files. The drawback is that it results in larger loadmodules and the need to recompile if changes are done. 2). After upgrading with the latest PTFs applied, the compilation abends with a 0C1. This has been reported to IBM and I’m waiting for some feedback from the lab Tom Ross , any idea on this? #ibm #cobol
