This article headline talks says the FSA may impose restrictions on activism, but it is METI that is now receiving public comments on its "fair acquisition guidelines". The direction of law, FSA regs, and METI "guidance" subject to interpretation, is not clear. But I think the direction of the activism, is pretty clear. There will be more of it. And on balance, that is a good thing for Japan, its economy, and its people... though maybe not for certain executives. #corpgov #Japan #esginvesting

Less than 10% of listed companies in Taiwan have completed carbon inventories, according to Luo Bingkuan, chairman of the China Independent Directors Association. A total of 67.73% of firms have initiated the measures, while 25% have yet to begin and nearly 58% have yet to commission a third-party organization to conduct carbon inventory evaluations. Currently, 497 listed companies lack a female director, constituting nearly 28% of all such firms. Furthermore, 225 firms have less than one-third female directors, comprising 13% of the total, as of end-March 2021. https://lnkd.in/dg4ymKit

Is this going to change without a lot more new, dedicate independent directors who have been properly opinion. Please support The Board Director Training Institute of Japan, by becoming a donor, or becoming a (corporate or individual) member and getting 30% discounts, or (if you are an investor) sharing discount benefits with portfolio companies to encourage them to take director training seriously. The Novian software and IT infrastructure services group had aggregated revenue of EUR 18.5 million in the first half of 2023, an increase of 27.6% over the same period last year. The group’s EBITDA for the 6-month period was EUR 0.2 million and correspondingly grew 25.9%. There was an operating loss of EUR 0.3 million, the same level as in January-June last year. In the first half of 2023, the Novian group’s companies earned EUR 12.3 million of their revenue, or 67%, in Lithuania; the amount is 11.8% more than in the first half of 2022. Revenue earned in other countries was EUR 6.2 million, or 77.3% more than in the year-ago period. The group has had activities in a total of 32 countries this year. The group’s EBITDA for the year was EUR 1.5 million and compared to 2021 contracted 11.8%. There was an operating profit of EUR 0.5 million, which is 39.9% less than the year before. Last year the Novian group’s companies earned EUR 25 million of their revenue, or 76%, in Lithuania; the amount is 39.4% more than in 2021. Revenue earned abroad was EUR 7.9 million, or 1.4% more than a year earlier. The companies had activities in a total of 36 countries in 2022.
