B.C. has introduced restrictions on short term rentals in virtually all areas with some exemptions like resorts. One such community that is in significant trouble if the exemption is not expanded is Predator Ridge just outside Vernon. Anyone lucky enough to have experienced this area with its golf, hiking, cross country skiing, Sparkling Hill Spa etc. understands the destination is a resort. There are hundreds of homes in the community mostly occupied by full time residents however a good number of them are second homes and occupied during specific periods but rented to visitors most of the year and the area is zoned for that. Further, these homes are not "affordable" by its intended definition. The "District" in Predator is designed for long term rentals. I and others have strongly encouraged that this area/community be excluded from the legislation due to its resort definition, so I expect Predator to be added to the exemption list prior to May. We'll see.
