In a ruling handed down on December 21, 2023, in the European Superleague Company case, the Court of Justice of the European Union ruled that FIFA and UEFA’s rules on the prior authorization of football competitions, such as the Super League, were contrary to European Union law. Today, we issued our sixth annual study with the Pro League, which reveals the socio-economic impact of Belgian professional football. Thanks to Sam Sluismans for the opportunity to be part of this project! Belgian professional football achieved record revenues of € 381,5 million and got more than 110.000 people moving with social projects and support to local clubs in the 21/22 season. However, the aftermath of COVID-19, fiscal reforms, a limited European campaign, and soaring labor costs led to an aggregated loss of € 156 million. ⚽️ Curious?
