Strength 💪💪🏿 training builds more than muscles : it keeps you in good health and helps prevent injuries and osteoporosis. Weight training technique: When lifting weights, don’t hold your breath. Breathe out as you lift; breathe in as you lower. Osteoporosis should be a concern for all of us. An estimated eight million women and two million men in the United States have osteoporosis. It is now responsible for more than two million fractures each year, and experts expect that number will rise. Hip fractures are usually the most serious. Six out of 10 people who break a hip never fully regain their former level of independence. Even walking across a room without help may become impossible. https://buff.ly/4cm6MJO Institut de la Colonne Vertébrale et des NeuroSciences ICVNS Harvard Health Publishing Harvard Alumni Association Lebanese American University Académie Nationale de Chirurgie Collège de Médecine des Hôpitaux de Paris | CMHP

New publication!!! Systematic review and meta-analysis!! ✨ How effective can a remote-based exercise and physical therapy program be on depressive symptoms in MS patients? 🔸Depression in MS negatively affects quality of life and independence. 🔸Telephone communication or other electronic monitoring systems can be extremely useful as a method of communication and assessment. 🔸A remote personalized exercise program can have the same great results as face-to-face. 🔸A rehabilitation program based on motor imagery training is a promising method for the future. 💡Although it is understandable that a face-to-face rehabilitation program is more important, this form of tele-rehabilitation can easily be considered a solution with a very low cost-effectiveness ratio and an easy option for physiotherapists and patients, even for a short period of time. So....why do so many athletes use chiropractic? Training, preparing and competing are all part of what makes sports so much fun. But, it does come with a trade-off. The common motions in many popular sports can place a tremendous amount of stress on your neck and back. Why it Matters: During training, you are pushing and challenging your body to improve your performance. Chiropractic can help you stay on track by improving your range of motion while decreasing your spinal stiffness. Spinal stiffness has been shown to often accompany back pain. Then during rest and recovery, we use techniques that help with tissue repair, decreasing inflammation, and accelerating the recovery process! - Researchers have found spinal stiffness increases during bouts of back pain - Soft tissue techniques can break down scar tissue - Improved joint range of motion can facilitate the healing process Science Source: Does experimental low back pain change posteroanterior lumbar spinal stiffness and trunk muscle activity? "Unlocking Entrepreneurial Success: Khadi & Village Industries Commission's Retired State Director Incharge Offers Expert Guidance"
#In a medical emergency, the clarity and conviction of an experienced doctor can be crucial in making the right decisions. #The senior doctor, Dr. Vijayan, retired 23 years ago but displayed remarkable enthusiasm and dedication to his profession. #The story emphasizes the importance of engaging in work that truly captures your heart and mind, regardless of age. #Finding meaningful work and developing mastery can significantly enhance your quality of life. #Life is too short to waste on meaningless work or distractions, so prioritize work that you find fulfilling. #Pursuing meaningful work can be a life-enhancing elixir, more powerful than anything science can offer. #The author offers programs at HabitStrong to help break digital addictions, foster focus, and overcome anxiety. #This story underscores the importance of finding purpose and passion in your work, regardless of your age, and the impact it can have on your quality of life.
A few weeks ago, my daughter fell sick with severe stomach pain. The ultrasound and CT couldn't detect anything. So we did the second CT (a bit more advanced one), which suggested appendicitis, but not conclusively. So the next morning, we were in the hospital, still confused about what to do. Then, walked in a senior doctor (Dr. Vijayan). He examined the patient and made a firm diagnosis -- it was appendicitis, and he recommended immediate surgery. His clarity of conviction decided the matter for us -- we got the surgery done the same day. After the surgery, the doctors said that any delay would have been dangerous. When we were talking to this senior doctor, he casually mentioned that he retired from 'Trivandrum Medical College in 23 years'. We thought he meant that he retired in 2023, which made sense -- he looked like a 60-year-old. But he then clarified -- no, he retired 23 years ago (in 2000)! So he wasn't 60, but more like 80. And his enthusiasm for his job would have put a 60-year-old to shame. Aging is partly genetic but one thing is undeniable -- nothing enhances your life quality more than doing work that totally engages your heart and mind. I am not giving a simplistic recipe like ‘Go chase your passion.’ But life is too short to waste on meaningless work or distractions. Find work that you find meaningful. And develop mastery. You will discover a life-enhancing elixir more powerful than what science can ever come up with. *** At HabitStrong, I run programs to break digital addictions, inculcate focus, overcome anxiety, and more: www.habitstrong.com

Founder MSK+, Private Practice Midtown Toronto, Porter Health, Clinician, CE host, CE Presenter, Virtual Care Rehab provider
Toronto, October 29 Integrating Kinesiology Tape, Cupping and Floss Into A Clinical Toolbox Session Objective: The simple goal is to “demystify” the use of kinesiology tape / floss / cupping and provide the clinician with a more intuitive understanding of the efficacy of tape, floss and cupping as adjunct tools to complement any manual therapy practice. Pain mitigation and movement optimization are two primary goals for any manual therapist. The addition of kinesiology tape, floss and cupping lends itself to the effective management of pain and refinement of motor control. The skin is really a megaphone for the brain. Applying tape and other afferent tools to this wonderfully responsive and adaptive neuro-fascial platform allows us an opportunity to refine input and ultimately retool output. By tapping into the brain through the skin and fascial platform, we have the ability to create a window of opportunity for the patient to experience pain free movement. The presentation is an evidence informed kinesiology tape, floss and cupping session that will advance the massage therapist’s understanding of the science and efficacy of all three applications as performance and rehabilitation tools that can serve to mitigate pain, improve fluid dynamics and sharpen proprioception. Move. Live. Perform. Learning Outcomes Students will develop an understanding of the physiological effects of tape, floss and cupping applications Therapists will develop a critical appreciation for the adaptable, neuroplastic nature of the neuro-fascial system Participants will understand the unique mechanical effects of tape, floss and cupping on the underlying fascia and connective tissue Participants will have the opportunity to refine their competencies in applying the three tools through practical, hands-on applications
