Today we had the privelege of launching the newest crew of Hope Dealers into the wild. These Resilience Renegades are primed and ready, with all of their inspiration and motivation, to bring positive emotion and optimism to their respective spaces. These change agents, that also go by Master Resilience Trainers, are on a mission to enable their teams, bases, communities, cultures, societies, families, peers, leaders and subordinates to "grow through adversity", no matter the scale. Individual flourishing is a mission imperative. A flourishing Human is a flourishing Airman. #mentalhealth United States Air Force Air University 6K Systems Inc. #motivation #inspiration #resilience #FFIT

In this article Adam Grant discusses "Otherism". "Otherism" generates positive emotion. Positive emotion is the fuel for resilience, growing through adversity. As a military, we value service and go to great lengths to encourage our teams to serve & volunteer. Unfortunately, oftentimes the intent and/or motivator is that it will look good on our eval, a box check, disguised as growth or altruism. What if we consider the resilience impact on volunteering & giving, by shifting the intent? What if our primary reasoning for giving WAS altruism? Serving, as a way to make others better which makes the individual better. It not only makes one better, but increases their ability to operate with excellence, even on the bad days (increases resilience). Sure, it also looks good on your quarterly package, but that is a mere tertiary effect and not the primary motivator. .... Something to think about.

It's been said that, with competence comes confidence. This Drexel University study takes that concept even further, bringing in the aspect of 'Flow'. "Entering 'FLOW' lies in a combination of extensive experience and the ability to 'let go'". (yes, go ahead and que Frozen. Sorry, about that. :). ) https://lnkd.in/e-6qwADd https://lnkd.in/eHfkMZzC

Pedagogy or Andragogy, the premise is the same, think outside the box in the classroom. Bounce and blend... when we know our students, we can speak their language. Have Fun. Go ahead, stand on the desk, it'll be alright. :) #BeAsBuilt

We completed our last FAC 101 seminar for the year on November 30th. Students are asked their “why” for volunteering as RTAs and MRTs and their stories of resilience they shared were humbling. One shared how someone asked them for help bc they had the MRT patch on their sleeve. Resilience is hard to measure, we don’t always have hard facts for data, but what we do have is testimonies of 4500+ students and how they overcame adversity using the eight resilience skills. They believe in it and each one is making a difference across the globe for military, civilian counterparts, and families. Shout out to the instructors Dr. Ricky E. Higby, Kimberly Dvorak, Olivia Bujak, MA and Miguel Moreno. They do a phenomenal job every class and without them, we wouldn’t have quality MRTs with great facilitation skills. In addition our curriculum team with Lacey Alexander ICF PCC and Christopher Moore, PMP, ISD. Lacey did a great job with developing the material and Chris hit the ground running his first month overhauling our Canvas site. And of course Dr. Bernadette M. Chapple for her extensive research and Paula for her course support Today is the first day of our last MRT course of the year and I’m excited to see what this next week and a half brings. Every person who attends our courses has their “why” for their reason they volunteer to help others overcome adversity. Everyone has a story to share; you may never know the impact you made, but people are listening creating the ripple effect of resilience. What’s your Why? A resilient force is a healthy force!
