ABOUT

AN AMERICAN COMPANY WITH A JAPANESE NAME.

Although proudly an American company the word makimono translates loosely to "classic storytelling using words and pictures in a sequential order". We align with Japanese Culture in their reverence for tradition, family, respect for their elders and a centuries long commitment to entertaining storytelling as well as delivering top quality content.

We are dedicated to creating good old fashioned comic books and graphic novels which are appropriate for modern audiences without any of the social lectures so prominent in the bigger company titles and franchise films. We don't believe in mixing politics with entertainment, instead we are providing great escapist adventure stories that harken back to the golden days of heroes and villains-- but that doesn't mean-we are dumbing down content- we explore complex themes and situations to provide real content for a variety of ages.

A PLEDGE ON CONTENT FOR PARENTS AND READERS

We use the Motion Picture Academy Guidelines as a starting point for our content. However, we are stricter than they are as we do not allow any nudity, sex scenes or vulgar language in any of our titles. PG Films today allow these things and we do not. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards glorifying drug use or criminal behavior in any of our titles. Violence is restricted to the level you would see in films from the 1960s such as GOLDFINGER or LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, essentially we believe this to define PG Material.

We believe we can tell stories that will entertain readers of all ages without resorting to elements beyond this PG or PG-13 rating. Our G-Rated Titles are truly all ages appropriate with violence levels equal to that of a vintage Bugs Bunny cartoon.
