An accurate and well-rounded diagnosis is a complex, multi-step process including a clinical interview, medical history review, along with mental health history, psychosocial and the completion of normed rating scales that are usually filled by you (the patient), the parent (if minor), educators and friends or other family members, if necessary. We also use a very thorough testing platform where it facilitates the CONNERS.

The main purpose of the Conners test is to:

  • measure hyperactivity in children, adolescents, and adults.
  • provide a perspective on the patient's behavior from people who interact closely with either the child or the adult.
  • help your healthcare team develop an intervention and treatment plan for the patient.
  • establish an emotional, behavioral, and academic baseline before beginning therapy and medication.
  • offer standardized clinical information to support any decisions made by your provider.
  • classify and qualify students (children or adults) for inclusion or exclusion in special education programs or research studies. If applicable.

Some of the characteristics and behavior seen in children who have emotional disorders can be ADHD, aggression, self harming behavior such as acting out, fighting, hitting themselves).

Additionally, withdrawal which can present as not interacting socially with others whether at school or at home, excessive fear or anxiety, and others.
