What Is a Surgical Tech?

Surgical technologists are allied health professionals, who are an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to patients. Surgical technologists work under the supervision of a
surgeon, to prepare and organize the OR equipment, instruments, and supplies as required. Anticipate surgeon and patient needs during a procedure.
Take care of specimens, prepare, check, and monitor medications, and assist with dressings
Set up a sterile environment, and maintain the sterile field for the patient during procedures.
Utilize correct body mechanics in moving, transporting, and positioning patients, stretchers, and/or tables in order to prevent injury to patients and personnel.

 

About Our Surgical Tech course

Our Surgical Tech program is for students that desire to be on the front lines of medicine. Our program is unique because not only can students become certified in surgical technology, but are eligible to become certified in sterile processing as well.

  • MING’s program is 32-weeks with a required 160-hour externship.

  • We offer 3 options for day classes. You choose which day a week works for you,  Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, from 8 am - 5 pm.

  • We have one evening class, Mon/Tues from 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm. Only two days a week on campus. 

  • Fridays are used for additional hands-on practice from 9 am- 2 pm.

  • The course is $8,500 which includes all books, labs, supplies, and national certification testing through NCCT.
