Software plugin for DDRC-88A/D for bass management, Dirac Live and multi-way speaker crossover in a box!
The DDRC-88BM plug-in extends the capabilities of the DDRC-88A/88D multichannel Dirac Live® processor. 100% compatible with all DDRC-88A/88D units in the field, the DDRC-88BM adds comprehensive fine-grained bass management and crossover capabilities. The input signals are low-pass filtered and summed to generate the subwoofer signal; a matrix mixer routes or mixes these channels for the Dirac Live® algorithm, which in turn has its outputs routed or mixed to the output channels, where additional high/low pass and parametric filtering takes place. In addition to improved bass management for conventional home theater signal paths, the DDRC-88BM allows innovative solutions like multi-subwoofer control and combined DRC/active loudspeaker setups.
NOTE: This product offering is for the DDRC-88BM software plugin only. A DDRC-88A or DDRC-88D must be purchased separately to operate this plugin correctly.
Activation procedure
The following procedure converts a DDRC-88A from basic mode to enhanced/bass management mode. The DDRC-88A must be running the current firmware before doing this step. Please check page 83 of the DDRC-88 user manual for more detail.
1. Download and install the latest version of the DDRC-88BM plugin from the miniDSP.com website.
2. Start the plugin and click the Connect button.
3. Drop down the Help menu and select “Activate Bass Management”.
4. The following screen will appear:
5. Click on the button “Copy Activation Code to Clipboard.”
6. Send an email message to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with the Subject line “DDRC-88-BM Activation Request.” In the body of the email message, paste the activation code. miniDSP will respond within 48-72h from Mon-Fri with an activation key file (.txt file). (Please note that this is not an automated process.)
The activation key file contains a key text string consisting of 128 pairs of letters separated by spaces (total 256 letters). 7. Click the “Import” button and select the received activation key file to import into the plugin.
