2 women killed in triple shooting at vacant house during Cinco de Mayo celebrations

DETROIT – Two women were killed, and a man was injured in a triple shooting Sunday afternoon at what appeared to be a vacant house in a southwest Detroit neighborhood, police said.

Around 2 p.m. Sunday, two Dodge Durangos, one newer and one from the early 2000s, pulled up outside the home on 33rd Street near Michigan Avenue, WDIV Local 4 reports. People were out and about in the area for Cinco de Mayo celebrations.

The occupants of the two vehicles spoke, and then the older model SUV drove away, police said. One of the occupants of the other vehicle then got out and approached the house. The front door was open. He fired a couple shots while outside, and then fired three or four more after going in.

Two women died; their names and ages were not immediately known, police said. A man in his 30s was injured and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. No arrests were made; police are searching for the Durangos.
