MOVE Medical Massage

This is an outcome based manual therapy. This technique utilizes client engagement in both active and passive movement. By mobilizing joints we find areas of resistance or higher elasticity. From here we activate or release specific muscles to increase range of motion and functionality, as well as decrease pain.

All of our massage treatments incorporate some of this technique in every session.. This manual therapy that can often be doctor prescribed and reimbursed by medical insurance.

Our treatment combines multiple manual therapies including: Myofascial Release, decompression, Pin and Stretch, Deep Tissue Massage, Assisted stretching, and other case-specific therapies for acute and chronic pain. For every session the therapist does a medical intake, looks at the clients postural alignment, and current physical activity to assess and assist the patient in treatment.

Graston Technique

An advanced method to decrease pain and improve function! The Graston Technique® is a remarkable procedure that allows for better detection and treatment to areas of “scar tissue” or adhesions in muscles, tendons and ligaments that can reduce our range of motion and cause pain. We use a stainless steel instrument that glides along a patient’s muscle, tendons or ligaments, with the right amount of pressure to detect just where the scar tissue or restrictions are located.

Kinesio Taping

The Kinesio Taping Method is a therapeautic taping technique which alleviates pain and facilitates lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin. Can be beneficial for treating injuries, supporting weak zones, enhancing performance and/or re-educating muscles.

Each treatment is applied based on evaluation and assessment.

Deep Tissue Massage

Techniques that utilize deep-tissue/deep-muscle massage are administered to affect the sub-layer of musculature and fascia. These techniques require advanced training and a thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology.

Structural Bodywork

Structural Bodywork focuses on realignment of the body for optimum efficiency. Fascial connective tissue helps maintain the relationship of structures in the body to each other in space. By finding where fascial tissue is shortened improperly (or where it is restricted) we can make corrections that will allow you to move more comfortably and with less effort.

Neuromuscular Therapy

Neuromuscular Therapy targets relief and control of myofascial pain and dysfunction. Treatment consists of trigger point compression, myomassage, and passive stretching. Success may be measured subjectively by the level of pain reduction experienced by the client and objectively through increased range of motion, strength, endurance, and other measures of improved function.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release focuses on releasing the muscle tissue ("myo-") and correcting imbalances in the connective tissue ("fascia"). The myofascia is often responsible for restrictions, pain, and other imbalances within the body. Upon locating an area of fascial tension, pressure is applied in the direction of the restriction.

Pin and Stretch Technique

Pin and Stretch (a.k.a. Active Release Therapy, or ART) is a technique where I will lock (i.e. pin) some soft tissue in place while lengthening (i.e. stretching) the same soft tissue.  This has the effect of reducing restrictions that are located within the tissue.

move-treatments-reflexology.jpg

Reflexology

Based on an ancient Chinese therapy, reflexology involves manipulation of specific reflex areas in the feet and hands that correspond to other parts of the body. Sometimes referred to as "zone therapy", this bodywork involves application of pressure to these reflex zones to stimulate body organs and relieve areas of congestion.

Cupping

This treatment is inspired by an ancient form of alternative medicine. Our modern version uses silicone cups are to create suction on the skin. Depending on treatment, the cups are left in place or moved slowly to create a vacuum and break up stubborn scar tissue. Cupping is great for decreasing inflammation and pain while increasing blood flow.
