Our Story

MOYO is a Private Company Limited by Shares and  the company was registered in 2019. The business takes its name from the Swahili/ Shona word “Moyo”, meaning “heart”; this symbolises our passion for our ethnic heritage, and for the business itself. Swahili is a widely-spoken Bantu language in sub-Saharan Africa. MOYO specialises in producing and marketing maize, pumpkins, spinach, rape, mustard and other leafy vegetables which are non-indigenous to the UK. The product offer has been developed to appeal to a niche consumer market of African, Latin American and Asian families, whose ethnic traditions value highly these crops, which have formed a major part of their diet. We apply as far as practical chemical-free practices in the way we manage the land and grow our produce. Other product development is in progress to broaden the portfolio in future years.
