Victory Van: World's Worst Company: AVOID

Victory Van is the world’s WORST company – avoid them at all costs.

We stored our 5-bedroom house’s belongings with Victory for 11 years while we were overseas, latterly adding some items from my deceased parent’s home in 2015 and 2018. In all, they were paid over $150,000 on this “service”. On delivery, the crew badly mishandled several items, all captured photographically, and as we unpacked, a further disaster unfolded, also thoroughly photo documented. Stink bugs crawled out all over our mattresses everything else. The insurance we paid for was “Full Value Protection.” The claim documented 114 items either lost or damaged – including irreplaceable family heirlooms and very old English antiques. They even lost their file copy of our inventory. Further missing items came to light following the claim, and the Claims Attorney of Victory’s insurer, Vanliner, wrote that they could be included in the settlement, but in the end she refused to honor that. The value of our claim was $72,855, amended to $75,347 and 124 items. The mover’s truck also rutted our lawn and squashed the storm drain, which the driver tried to hide by kicking leaves over the damage, but was witnessed doing so.

At the end of 8 months of haggling and nit-picking by both Victory and Vanliner, we were forced to settle at $21,280. That is $54,046 less than the “full value” we had claimed and expected the insurance to cover – or 28 cents on the dollar. Vanliner and Victory claimed that self-destruction (“inherent vice” in their vocabulary, per the Vanliner Claims Attorney), not poor carrier handling, was the cause of much damage and disallowed or discounted many of those claimed items – notwithstanding photos showing clear mispacking and mishandling. They take the position that because we stored with them for such a long time, we must just expect that “accidents happen,” per the Victory Claims Administrator – like precious, irreplaceable furniture items disappearing into thin air. Accident? Victory refused to allow us to search the warehouse with them. So what is a “safe” amount of time to store with them? They do not say, but we say to anyone reading this: NONE. We have moved many times domestically and foreign, but never have we encountered negligence this gross. RUN from this company. And if you are storing with them, get out now!

Great move.

I have moved with Victory Van Corporation five times, and they currently store some of my stuff in their storage facility.  I have always been impressed with the effort the crew takes to protect my furniture and my residence.  I was interested in saving money, but I wanted the move done right.  When all the jobs were complete, I felt good about my decision.  They have also moved many of my friends and family.  I would recommend Victory Van Corporation to anyone moving.

Late..

Had 2 trucks. 1 was 30 mins late and the other 3 hours late. Admin team was terrible at communicating and couldn't locate the 2nd truck for a couple hours. 2nd truck was late because the driver/supervisor had personal car issues, Admin tried to say it was the truck but he admitted that it was his personal car. As the supervisor wouldn't you think it would be responsible for calling and letting us know where you are and why you are late or at least when you will be there? Apparently he didn't think he should communicate directly with us bc he didn't. Only recommend if you want bad communication and movers arriving late. I was upset about the first truck being 30 mins late didn't realize that I was lucky they came when they did because the other truck..yikes SMH. See picture of the truck driving in with the time stamped at 10:56AM.

Never got back to me

I called and wrote Email three days in a row, and they never came through with a quote. I guess they don't need people's business. I had to go through the Allied customer service first. Don't promise to get back to the customer when you have no intention of doing so.

Nightmare Movers.

We had a NIGHTMARE MOVE with Victory Vans. I moved across the country and they only delivered half my belongings almost 2 weeks after pickup. The other half they didn't deliver for a MONTH!

Victory Vans also underestimated the weight of my move. They came back to me asking for more money. When I said I had a "guaranteed price" they said they'd keep the remainder of my shipment in storage until I paid more money and they'd charge me storage costs. It felt like pure extortion and the most stressful part of my move was trying to deal with this horrible moving company.

To top it all off, they ultimately crated my belongings and sent it by train to a different mover in Denver. They told me I'd have to pay that mover $528.00 to deliver the shipment. Again they said if I didn't pay the money they'd put my stuff in storage, holding it ransom, and they'd charge storage fees.

I paid them the money on my credit card out of desperation and when the moving truck showed up they wouldn't bring anything inside until they got confirmation of payment from Victory. They sat there for 2 hours reading the newspaper until I finally negotiated a fix with their dispatcher.

My experience with their customer service people was beyond belief. No one cared, they were harsh, unkind and unhelpful.

If you do rudimentary searches with consumer affairs about both Victory and Allied you'll learn the truth about their tactics for getting extra money from their customers.

31 moves - the worse one with Victory Van Lines.

Out of 31 moves - the worse one. Never got a call from dispatch to let us know the time of pick up, goods were supposed to be put on pallets at the house and moved direct into storage. Movers showed up and no pallets - were told it's when equipment is available which is not what the agreement or the salesman said! We had to stop the movers multiple times to wrap/re-wrap goods before loading. Sent a certified letter to the owners - haven't heard a word back and it's been weeks. Walls left dirty, just bad all the way around. Communications with the company poor, at best. Had multiple quotes but selected Victory - our worst mistake - select someone else for your move.

Allied/Victory Van Lines, please deliver my bed!

Allied/Victory Van Lines is holding our shipment in Maryland despite having loaded the truck in Maryland on May 30 for our move to the Midwest. Understanding that early June is a busy time for the moving industry, we agreed to a generous 6 day delivery window for our items to arrive in Midwest.  The loading and packing took place on schedule and in a professional manner. However, we learned halfway through our delivery window that the driver assigned to transport our shipment west had backed out and that no other driver had been assigned. While we were in the Midwest after a taking several days to visit family along the way, our shipment was still in Maryland.  We initially believed that the delivery might be 1-2 days late, which was frustrating but not devastating. However, as of yesterday evening, the final day of our delivery window, a driver has still not been assigned and the most likely scenario is described as arrival a full week from now - I.e. a full week past the last day of our already generous delivery window. I am also pregnant with our second child and due in a few days.   This new best case scenario happens to be  a day after my due date, when my husband and I will likely be at the hospital and our visiting family will be taking care of our toddler. Our family that will be visiting the baby had planned also to help us finish unpacking boxes and settling in - I am now hoping they can stay long enough to get the process started, since I will not be in any condition to do so myself, not to mention that my hands will be full.   Allied, you have turned an already stressful time in our lives into total chaos! I have made you aware of our personal circumstances, and while your customer service representatives seem appropriately sympathetic, no effective action has been taken to solve the problem (other than Fed Exing the crib, which I will appreciate when it arrives).  It is bad enough that I am sleeping on a cheap inflatable mattress at 39.5 weeks pregnant and that my 2 year old has outgrown his portable crib in the time we have spent waiting. Now I may not be able to recover from delivery in a bed, rock my baby in a chair, or provide a familiar space for my toddler while his parents are away. I am extremely frustrated with your lack of solutions to this simple problem. It will have taken more than three weeks to make a two day drive. Hire a driver! Pay someone overtime! Please bring me a bed and a rocking chair!

Missing and late items.

I was told I would be moved out in 2 days. After they showed up it turned into 3 days with a holdiay between two of the days.  The workrs were unprofessional, unkept, and rude. The company forgot about our stuff sitting and waiting to be shipbound overseas. I had to email them several times, after no response I CCed upper management on the email and then received a response. Some of my air freight did not show up with the air freight. SOME of it finally showed up in the sea container. We are missing a $1,000.00 dollar silk rug, a $1,000.00 dollar HD Video Camera, Several hundred dollars worth of diapers and several hundred dollars worth of baby formula. I will NEVER use this comapny again - this is a 100% honest response, no exaggeration. The review info did not have the country listed that our items were shipped to - Azerbaijan.

Great Experience.

Victory Van Corporation recently moved me from Alexandria to Centreville and I had a great experience. The person who came to my apartment to give me an estimate was professional and honest, and I really appreciated this.  On moving day the crew arrived to my apartment on time and they were very friendly.  I had a large sectional sofa that was very difficult to get out of the apartment, but they were patient and did not get frustrated and handled all of my items with a lot of care.  The entire move was finished by 2:30 and I was very surprised and happy with the whole process.  I am so happy that I selected Victory and have already recommended them to all of my friends who are moving.

Extraordinary Move!

Our experience with Victory was extraordinary. And believe me, We have moved enough to know it could/would and should  be a difficult experiecne to say the least. From the time our salesman William Quinn arrived to provide the estimate to move from Germantown, MD to Vienna, VA I had good expectations. Those expectations were further bolstered when Reginald Williams and his crew arrived to move us. Our SF household is a cumbersome load for any crew [ my wife and I and 4 teenagers ] so I knew Reginald had his work cut out for him. Not only did they perform admirably ALL DAY LONG with cheer they somehow managed to do it in less time that anticipated so we saved $$! How about that for a move? I strongly recommend Victory Van; and I know when we move again who I will call upon!
