Ramen Hirataishu Ajian / らーめん平太周 味庵 - Gotanda

IMG_5138.jpeg

What you see above is the Bakumori bowl at Hirataishu Ajian in Gotanda, their signature “junk style” bowl.

It is an aburasoba style bowl with tons of aromatic oil and pork back fat showered all over the bowl, on the bottom and on top. It’s a good fatty mess that definitely requires an empty stomach.

The thick noodles work great with the fattiness. Even though it can be eaten as is, you will get a condiment basket with things like mustard, mayo, gyofun, nori powder, parmesan cheese powder, Tabasco, rayu, sancho pepper and shichimi chili mix. I hit almost all condiments for at least a few bites (no problem, you have enough noodles) and found the parmesan, mayonnaise and gyofun to work exceptionally well.

Great bowl if you’re into this kind of unrefined junk style of bowl, definitely not for every day.
