Before

If it’s your first time, you will want to schedule a consultation to allow enough time to discuss all of your beauty goals, skin concerns and establish a plan of what’s best for your unique skin and face. All filler, microneedling, and chemical peel treatments will need a consultation prior to booking appointment.

Here are some tips prior to your treatment appointment:

  • Stay hydrated a few days prior to your appointment.

  • If getting injections, begin taking Arnica Montana tablets 3-5 days before and after treatment; (these can be found at most health food stores or online). These minimize bruising from injections. Also, eat fresh pineapple.

  • If getting injections, avoid alcohol for 48 hours before your treatment for optimal results.

  • Do not have filler injected 2 weeks prior or post-dental work.

  • If getting microneedling, chemical peels or Hydrafacial, avoid topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinols, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, or any “Anti-Aging” products 5-7 days prior. Also, do not want to wax, tweeze or use hair removal creams on the area to be treated for 3-5 days prior.

  • For injection appointments, it’s best to avoid Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Fish Oil, Vitamin E, St. Johns Wart, Ginko Biloba, Primrose Oil, Garlic, and Ginseng, for 7-10 days prior to treatment. Please consult your physician first before stopping these medications if you were prescribed any of these medications!

  • If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another eruption of cold sores. Please let us know if you are prone to cold sores.

  • Do not get injections if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, are allergic to any ingredients, or suffer from neurological disorders. Please inform us if you have any questions about this prior to your treatment

Day of Treatment

  • Arrive at the office with a “clean face" and without heavy makeup.

  • A topical anesthetic may be applied in most cases to minimize the amount of discomfort. In some cases, a local numbing medication will be injected into or around the area(s) to be treated.

After

Within the First 24 Hours of Treatment:

  • Immediately after the treatment, there may be redness, bruising, swelling, and/or itching near the injection site. Avoid itching, massaging, or applying pressure around the injection site.

  • Avoid drinking alcohol or partaking in strenuous exercise, as it may result in additional bruising.

  • Until the swelling and redness have resolved, avoid intense heat in the treated area(s). This includes sunbathing, tanning, saunas, hot tubs, or hot wax. Also, avoid extremely cold temperatures, such as skiing or other winter sports. (Of course, we hope you avoid sunbathing and tanning altogether.)

  • To help alleviate bruising, we recommend the topical application of Arnica - a natural ointment commonly used to reduce bruising. You can find this at your grocery store or online.

  • Minimize movement of the treated area(s). However, if there is a visible bump, you can massage the area. Depending on the areas treated and the product used, you may feel "firmness". These areas will soften and settle with time (usually 1-2 weeks)

Additional Post Microneedling or Chemical Peel Treatments

  • Redness is typical for 2-3 days post treatment. Peeling is expected for approximatley one week post treatment.

  • Use a clean, white pillow case each night for the first three nights.

  • Keep hair clean and pulled back for first few days post treatment.

  • Only use post treatment care product as described in the post care instructions.

Additional Dermal Filler Aftercare Recommendations

  • If you are investing in cosmetic injectables, you must optimize your investment and the health of your skin by using medical-grade skincare products, such as ZO Skincare. Products can strengthen the skin, improve laxity and texture and minimize fine lines. Tretinoin (Retin-A) helps rebuild cells in the skin’s epidermis and helps with cellular turnover Over time, Retin-A can strengthen skin, improving firmness and radiance. Ask us about Retin-A!

  • Wearing sunscreen is critical to maintaining the look and health of your skin. Sunscreen should be applied every day and reapplied every two hours when in direct UV light. We recommend sunscreen with an SPF 50 or greater. Don’t forget your chest and neck!

Rest and enjoy!
