A local business specializing in activities for youth is expanding their business to include another fun activity, not just for kids but for those of any age.
Jumpin' Jive Battlefield Inc., located at 2911 Brunswick Ave., is planning to add a bowling alley.
Tracy Brantley, who owns the business with her husband Claude, said they will be removing the pool to make space for what she hopes to be a 10 lane bowling alley.
"We're working on adding it, but it might take a bit," Brantley said. "We are trying to get the pool filled to make space for it. We are working on getting debris to fill it in, but it's a very large pool."
Brantley said the pool is not bringing in enough revenue to sustain itself.
"We feel bringing in the bowling alley would be an activity that would be a little more profitable," Brantley said. "Our plan is to have the pool filled and cemented within the next month or so and then begin construction of the bowling alley."
Brantley said they are hoping to have at least 10 bowling lanes but will not be sure until the pool is filled and they can determine how much space they have.
Jumpin' Jive Battlefied moved to its current location in February 2020. In March, the governor's mandates due to the COVID 19 pandemic caused the business to close down which meant a loss of revenue.
During that time, they used the location as a virtual learning location and provided space for students to come in a complete their school work and had teachers on hand to assist them.
"We could not open as a family entertainment center due to the mandates, so we were trying to keep our doors open," Brantley said. "Now, we're trying to get back into what we are actually here for which is for the kids."
The business offers a 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. session from Wednesday through Friday for toddlers, preschoolers and homeschoolers. An afterschool program is operated from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
It is open to all ages from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday.
"Friday is when a lot of the older teenagers come in," Brantley said. "They come to socialize and hang out with their friends."
Saturday hours are noon to 10 p.m. and from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday. It is closed on Monday and Tuesday, except for the school programs.
Activities available include pool or billiards, laser tag, bazooka ball, arcade and video games, zip line, wall climbing, and bounce houses.
Jumpin' Jive is also available for booking private events such as birthday parties, family gatherings, church events and more.
