I have a direct line of sight to the transmitters from my home, which is around 30 miles away. But since I intended to put the antenna in the attic, I wanted to buy the greatest one I could. It’s been fantastic for the two years I’ve been using it. I heartily endorse it. Because I only have UHF channels, I am unable to comment on how VHF operates.
One of these antennas was formerly mounted on my roof and directed at the 38-mile-away Mt. Wilson TV antenna farm in Los Angeles. I have a 20 foot cable run to a two-way splitter, followed by a 30 foot run to a three-way splitter, which has three 20 to 30 foot leads to three TVs. On each TV, I now receive 166 channels that are all crystal clear and uninterrupted. In order for my friend to receive the same OTA service, I got this one to install on his roof.
When contrasted to the previous huge antenna, this one is little. Therefore, when it was time to replace the previous one, you may have questioned its ability to produce decent quality given its size. More than you anticipate is done. It is really light. Being up high on the roof, more than 20 feet above ground, we recently experienced a lot of severe gusts, yet no damage was evident. One individual can easily assemble and install (who knows what to do).
This antenna is excellent. Does what it’s designed to do, and the mounting hardware is simple to install. Undoubtedly, some antennas are better than others. However, this receives every local channel as well as, of course, a picture that is incredibly clear, but it is a feature of DTV technology more than the antenna. Without having to fiddle with it, I simply set it up, pointing in the general direction of the transmitting stations.
It’s a cute tiny antenna that provides good picture quality, and assembling it is easy if you follow the picture on the box instead of the written directions. You’d need a microscope to read the print, funny… But it functions well.
