Wasn't a big fan of his lectures as he often went on tangents about things not super related to the class material. Overall not too bad, seems like a very knowledgable guy. Provides many bonus points in the form of pop quizzes, weren't very difficult if you paid a little bit attention during lectures. Uses packback (annoying but easy points).

1.) DO NOT TAKE if you are planning on taking MCAT. Bottom line is you need to know Biochemistry and he doesn't teach it.TALKS ABT personal research/random stories. 30, he reads off the slides 2.) Changes his syllabus LAST minute. Imagine going from open note all year to cumulative in person exams. You're setting yourself up for failure.

The class was easy until exam 2 when he decided to switch things up just because the BMB402 section was doing better than the honors section. He decide to give us a cumulative exam on the final week of exams, when it wasn't mentioned in the syllabus. He just made it hell in the last two to three weeks by changing the syllabus everyday.

this wasn't a difficult class until he decided to make our final in person all because he was upset people weren't showing up to class (when attendance wasn't mandatory). i honestly learned more reading the textbook & from khan academy than going to class. i would avoid if possible to save yourself the stress of last minute changes.

This class was easy, however, I did not learn any biochemistry. He literally spends the first 30 minutes of every lecture on a random tangent. I was never bored in class, but I also never learned anything in class. Buy the textbook and get ready to teach yourself.

I didn't find Dr. Selleck's lectures to be very relevant, and I felt like he didn't respect our time because he was always getting off topic during lecture. Homework is easy and Packback grades are easy points. He definitely wants to teach us, but his teaching method is not for me. As mentioned by others, our final was definitely messed up.

He gave no notice and changed exams to in person and closed note, only a few weeks before the end of the semester. His slides are really good, but in class he rambles on about nothing of importance. Not terrible class, but not predictable. Exams are of small details such as people who discovered processes and homework questions.

I really think that Dr. Selleck is a great lecturer. We discuss the material within the curriculum, however, he takes it a step further by providing real life application (disease, treatments, etc.). I think it is incredibly insightful and will be beneficial for the future especially if you are looking towards a healthcare profession.

People stopped showing up (because he couldn't teach). So tells us 10 days ahead of time to prepare for a closed book final exam. Mad that the average is high yet TELLS us its open note. Literally punishes us for not wanting to hear his rants about himself and all his pHD and MD stuff. Ridiculous. Avoid him. Only talks for his own pleasure.

literally the worst. acts like he's all for the students until three weeks before the semester ends, then gives us two exams. please, not our faults he pulls his OPEN note exam questions in order from the notes. mad the averages are high so punishes us. also only talks about himself and goes on tangents about useless info

Some of these reviews are too negative. Selleck is a pretty good professor when he actually decides to teach class content. Still, I stopped going to class because it was such an inefficient way to learn with all of his tangents. I used the textbook (which is v good) and his slides and got an easy A. I learned enough to do well on the MCAT, too.

I would STRONGLY suggest you take biochem with another professor. Almost everything I learned was from reading textbook slides on my own time. Every lecture was filled with discussions about the prof's own research, life stories, irrelevant topics to biochem, etc. When we did focus on content, he usually read off the slides, which was not engaging.

Dr. Selleck is a very smart guy, but tends to go on tangents about outside research. I had him for BMB 401 as well, and found that he discusses more relevant material in 402 than he did in the previous course. He has very fair quizzes and exams that make receiving a good grade attainable.

Dr Selleck is for sure a brilliant guy but an awful professor. didnt follow the textbook really at all and the info he presented was always related to his research/areas of study. very inept at using canvas and everything was so unorganized. would not recommend.

Dr. Selleck tries his best to keep lecture interesting, and does a good job relating course content to the real world. The only thing is that he doesn't teach topics in the book, and lectures a lot on his own research and specific, non-standard BMB topics, like cancer and Alzheimer's. It's interesting, but we end up with only his slides as content.

Really nice guy. It was his first semester teaching in Fall 2016. He plowed through an enormous amount of material, making it hard to stay on track. Lectures are boring and not helpful. Slides aren't descriptive. I would have liked to learn so much more from this class.

A fairly easy class for me. He gives clicker points so be sure to attend until you get the full point! After that you can skip class all you want. Lectures are posted online & all the exams are based on the lectures slides. YOU DON'T NEED THE TEXTBOOK. Exams are easy, make sure to study and you'll pass. He doesn't nitpick so that made it easier.
