Monica Lewinsky, the former White House intern who rose to fame in the 1990s after being involved in a sex scandal with then-president Bill Clinton, has reappeared in the spotlight decades since the incident. She looks nearly unrecognisable, although as fashionable as ever.

Now 50, Lewinsky, who has become an activist and author, is the new face of fashion brand Reformation’s “You’ve Got the Power” campaign for voting registration awareness ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

“Voting is using our voice to be heard and it’s the most defining – and powerful – aspect of democracy,” Lewinsky said in a release. “Voting is always important, but the stakes are especially high this year with voter frustration and apathy threatening to meaningfully impact turnout.”

Where was Monica Lewinsky born?

According to The Washington Post, Lewinsky has roots in two of the nation’s “plushest neighbourhoods”, Brentwood and Beverly Hills. She was born in San Francisco on July 23, 1973 and raised in Brentwood. Her father worked as a prominent radiation oncologist who also taught at UCLA.

The navy blue cocktail dress mentioned in taped conversations Lewinsky had with civil servant Linda Tripp became one of the most-discussed topics around the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal at the time. Tripp also secretly – and illegally – recorded conversations between Lewinsky and Clinton.

According to CBS News, Lewinsky had allegedly given the dress she had worn during a sexual encounter with the president to her mother for “safekeeping”. It was later revealed to have his DNA on it.

It seems like Lewinsky hasn’t been married. In an interview with People in 2021, she revealed: “I do date, but I’m not married yet.”

“I don’t know if that will happen or not, and I’m more OK with that than I used to be,” she added. It appears that she doesn’t have kids either – but she wanted them. “I wanted a job, I wanted a husband, I wanted kids,” she told The New York Times in the same year. “I wanted to be treated normally.”
