Sauvignon Blanc day is the first Friday of May. This week we celebrate everyones favorite grape with something fizzy, something still and Sauvignon Blanc’s descendent Cabernet Sauvignon. Sauvignon Blanc was first made in Bordeaux, France and the name stems from the French work Sauvage or “Wild". Depending on the climate, this grape can show as grassy and green or sharp with a ton of grapefruit notes. Anyway, it is one of our faves!

Our tasting takes us this week to Catalonia, Spain. This state is home to the city of Barcelona and 9 viticultural regions. The Catalan people have a rich history of wine making that dates over 3000 years and the diverse climate and geology brings out varied styles of wine. This week we take a trip to 3 of those regions with a crisp sparkling, a spring time white and a full bodied red.
