Bai Lu Noodles is a restaurant serving Chongqing cuisine, a branch of Sichuan cuisine, which itself comes from southwest China and is one of the eight Chinese cuisines. Chongqing cuisine is known for its use of red chilli and Sichuan pepper. As a result, dishes at Bai Lu Noodles can be quite spicy, but you can ask for milder versions. This place is highly recommended by Gault & Millau, the French restaurant guide, which focuses on the quality of the food.

Bai Lu Noodles offers hot pots with homemade noodles or dumplings. My favourite hot pot is bai cai rou mo chao shou (chicken broth, dumplings stuffed with minced pork, vegetables, ginger and garlic). They also have small bites that can make up a whole meal. There are vegetarian and vegan options, but no alcohol. If you would like to have a drink before or after dinner in the neighbourhood, you can try the wine bar Bar Rix (1 minute walk) or the cocktail bar Little Link (4 minutes walk).

The atmosphere is warm and intimate, and you can make a reservation if you want to be sure of a table. Otherwise, all food and drinks are available to take away.
