Description

Included in this packet are five bookmark-style Quick Check cards for practicing the skill of associating objects and functions/actions.

Each Quick Check card includes twenty “Name something that you can….” requests. A total of 100 functions/actions are addressed.

The Quick Check cards include boxes for placing a check or X for each response. Each card was designed for use with individuals or with groups of up to three students.

The cards provide a quick, easy method of providing therapeutic intervention or for obtaining baseline or ongoing assessment results. The response charting boxes included on each card make data collection/charting of responses convenient and easy.

The Quick Check cards can be used in the following ways:

Idea #1: Give each student in the group a different Quick Check card and have them state items associated with the functions/actions for their individual cards. Score with a check or X on each student’s card as he/she provides responses. Depending on the ability of the student they may provide single word responses or you may require them to use a complete sentence response, i.e., “I can blink my eyes.”

Idea #2: Use only one card for a group and have the students take turns providing an object associated with the functions/actions. Score individual students in different columns on the Quick Check card. The card can be used to score one to three students.

Idea #3: For students that can read independently, have them do a cooperative learning activity. Have each student partner with another, give the partners a list, and have them write down all the things they can think of that are associated with each function/action on their list.
