Medicare Advantage Plans

Also known as PART C, are plans that are available from private, Medicare-approved insurance companies, and they’re allowed to offer extra benefits beyond Part A and Part B. Some plans include prescription drug coverage, for example. Plans might include routine for dental and vision care and other health-related services not covered by Original Medicare (Part A and Part B). When choosing a Medicare Advantage plan, it’s important to review what the plan covers, how much it will cost you, and whether the plan covers your current list of prescriptions and your physicians.

Medicare Supplement Plans

Do you have frequent doctor or hospital visits? If so, you may already know that Medicare Part A and Part B come with out-of-pocket costs that you are responsible to pay. You might be able to save money with a Medicare Supplement insurance plan. Medicare Supplement, or Medigap, insurance plans fill in “gaps” in basic benefits left behind by Original Medicare, such as deductibles, coinsurance, and co-payments. There are several different plans that help pay the cost that Original Medicare does not cover.  These are offered by private insurance companies and are required to offer the same basic benefits for each lettered plan(Plan A-N), but insurance carriers do have the ability to charge different premiums. I work with multiple carriers to help find you the best plan at the best rate.

Prescription Part D

If you want to get Part D coverage, you have to choose to enroll in a private Medicare prescription drug plan (PDP) or Medicare Advantage plan with drug coverage included.  Enrollment is optional, though recommended in order to avoid late enrollment penalties.  Typically, you should sign up for Part D when you first become eligible to enroll in Medicare.

As your medications can change from year to year so do drug formularies.  It is important to review these changes annually to make sure you are getting the most out of your coverage when it comes to tier changes, copays and Preferred pharmacy prices and networks.

Individual Health Insurance

Are you considering retiring prior to your 65th birthday?  If so, you may need help in bridging the health insurance gap between retirement and when Medicare begins.  There are many things to consider, but not to worry there are solutions and we can help.
