FAQs

  • All of our therapists are trained and certified in offering therapeutic relaxation (aka Swedish) and deep tissue. Certain therapists offer cupping therapy and prenatal massage. Please give us a call for inquiries of which therapists offer which modalities. We take time to do a thorough intake with you before your appointment begins. This is when we discuss what your specific needs are and what you’re trying to accomplish with massage therapy. We will adapt our wide range of healing modalities to adhere to your unique healing journey.

  • A general rule of thumb for frequency of massage sessions is once a month. This is a great regimen to be in to receive the overall health benefits of massage including stress and tension relief, pain relief and increased mobility, improvement of digestion and immunity and enhanced blood circulation. If you are being seen for a chronic issue like low back pain, plantar fasciitis, shoulder pain etc., you may need to come in twice or more a month when first beginning your therapy, depending on the severity of the issue

  • For a full body massage without any serious pain or trouble areas, One Hour is a sufficient length of time for massage. If you have one or more areas that need extra work, we suggest booking One and a half Hours. If you have several areas that need focused work, or just want to really take some time to treat and take care of your body, a Two Hour Massage may be your perfect fit. The majority of our customers choose the One and a Half Hour massage, as it gives plenty of time to give attention to necessary areas, and still get the full body massage in.

  • We are big fans of cupping therapy and it can be added to any massage at no additional charge. *Available with certain therapists only. Cupping therapy works by creating a negative pressure and lifting connective tissue and muscle fibers. This upwards movement loosens adhesions and “stuck” or “stiff” areas. Another main benefit of cupping is creating localized blood flow. Suction created by applying a cup to the body pulls fresh blood cells towards the surface, helping to untangle knots in muscle fibers. The movement of blood helps regenerate new cells. Cupping originated from Chinese medicine and has been used for thousands of years to heal many different ailments in the human body. Chinese refer to blood as “Qi” which translates to “life force”. They believe that blood is the key to healing, which explains why cupping is also used to treat deeper issues, including respiratory and digestive function, menstrual discomfort and liver issues. * To add cupping to any massage, simply indicate in the notes section that you would like cupping. What should I expect from a cupping session?Cups are applied to specific areas and left on anywhere from 1-15 minutes. Time depends on the body’s reaction to the treatment and the severity of the issue being treated. Cupping typically isn't painful but you may experience a bit of pinching or pulling in tense areas, which tends to ease up quickly as the muscle releases from the blood flow that is brought to the area. Most people exclaim to feel great relief quickly after the cup is removed! Light pink to dark purple spots may occur after a session , which should disappear in 3-14 days. These spots are caused by dead blood cells that have been brought to the surface, which will be expedited via your lymphatic system. The more often you receive cupping, the less the spots will appear. The rate at which the spots diminish also vary per body type, amount of physical activity and overall health. This treatment is extremely beneficial and prolongs the positive effects of massage even longer.

  • We often have couples come in for massages together, and the massages are done in separate rooms. We currently don’t have the space to accommodate two massage tables in the same room, which is typically how a couples massage is performed. If you need any assistance in booking a couples massage, please feel free to call us and we would be more than happy to help.

First ever Massage? We are here for you!

We take time to do a proper intake when meeting before your first massage. We have a health intake form that is filled out before your massage that will give us an idea of any injuries, health issues, previous surgeries and what your massage goals are. We will discuss with you at this time what we plan on focusing on during your massage. Pressure of massage can be adjusted according to your preference, and your therapist will check in with you to make sure it is comfortable for you.

Generally massage is performed unclothed, however you may wish to wear under garmets during your massage. You will be covered with a sheet throughout the entire massage, and only the area being worked on will be exposed. If you are uncomfortable at any point, please inform your therapist. Adjustments can be made to ensure you are as comfortable as possible during your massage. Massage can be performed anytime of day, but we suggest taking it easy after receiving a massage so that the work we do is not lost with strenuous movement. Massage therapy releases toxins that are stored in muscles and increases lymphatic flow in the body, so it is extremely important to hydrate well after your massage.

A typical full body massage covers all areas of the body including head and neck, arms, back, glutes, legs, feet and chest. However if you have specific issues that need more work, we may spend more time working on your problem areas and skip other areas that don’t necessarily need attention that day. If there are any areas you do not want massaged, that is no problem. There is a space for this in your health intake form.
