Hello I am Gina…

Gina’s Story

I have taught classical mat Pilates in the Fife area since the end of 2012 and love it. My interest in Pilates started after having two children fairly close together. I developed back issues during both pregnancies, and I started to attend Pilates classes to see if it would help. ….it certainly did! During this time I got more and more into running and cycling and again found that Pilates helped me alleviate any associated back issues and running injuries as well as strengthening my body for my chosen sports.

I have an MA in food and welfare studies and worked in the food industry for 15 years. Looking for a better work life balance, I decided to take a leap of faith and try something new. It wasn’t long after making this decision that everything started to fall into place very quickly. I soon enrolled in a level 3 classical mat Pilates teaching diploma with Classical Pilates UK in Troon and never looked back. The training took me a few years to fully complete and was tough going and very strict but all very worth it in the end. During this period I also completed my foundation, level 1 and level 2 Corpus Pilates training.

I have built up a great wee business over the years and now teach 10 community classes every week plus 1 Zoom classes.

Its good to keep learning! I keep myself up to date by taking part in various Zoom classes, workshops and training days with some wonderful Pilates teachers. As well as reading numerous books on the subject.

What I like to do!

I am very into my fitness and the outdoors. Until a few years ago I loved running competitively and taking part in duathlons but have slowed down a little and now just do it all for fun. I also love hill walking and camping during the summer months. I find that Pilates helps me greatly with all of my chosen pursuits.
