  • What qualifies you to hold this position? This is my hometown. I own two small businesses, possess an art career focusing on this city and a collection of St. Paul development articles dating to 1980. I am grateful for my life and the character, empathy and foresight it has given me. My depth of understanding of our planning, design and security issues is unmatched in this race.
  • What would your top priorities be if elected? 1. Referendums select mayoral budget, and proposed property tax, fee and assessment increases in the future. 2. Create a city-wide crime map (color-coded dots added daily to show type and place of crime). 3. A skyway-wide camera with call box system is installed. 4. Retro-fit LRT platforms to be ‘pay as you enter’. 5. Support Trash referendum results.
  • What do you think is the primary role of government? To ensure: safety, law and order, attractive organized planning and development, good maintenance of infrastructure, and good maintenance of natural areas and parklands is steadfastly upheld. To always represent the will of the people and be a body of honorable public servants in all respects.

  • What qualifies you to hold this position? I participated in the civil rights movement and the fight to end the war In Vietnam. A longtime unionist, I have been active in labor battles. Now a retail worker at Walmart, I have walked with GM strikers at picket line in Hudson, WI, and protested to demand amnesty for immigrants and to oppose attacks on the right to abortion.
  • What would your top priorities be if elected? Working people must organize and act independent of the ruling capitalists and their political parties – the Democrats and Republicans. A movement of millions can be built to organize unions, fight for amnesty for all undocumented immigrants, and demand a federally-funded public works program to put millions to work at union-scale wages to build housing and other social needs.
  • What do you think is the primary role of government? Only by organizing workers against capitalist oppression can working people wake up to our worth and develop confidence in our fighting capacity. We must replace the rule of the capitalist class with a workers and farmers government in order to put an end to the dog-eat-dog values of capitalism and build a world based on human solidarity.

  • What would your top priorities be if elected? Bring meaningful action to the voices of our community. The council’s role is to be the representative of the majority, not the select few. Address public safety strategies to relieve our under-resourced departments & produce quality services for our neighbors. Work to preserve the heritage & traditions of St. Paul.
  • What do you think is the primary role of government?  To be a non-biased service worker to the neighbors and businesses in the community. Protect & Provide Invest in talent & education. Community engagement and empowerment so neighborhoods can flourish without the dependence of government.

  • What qualifies you to hold this position? My experience serving as the City Council member for Ward 2 over the last four years has helped me understand the workings of city government, build the necessary relationships to get things done and translate constituents’ needs into policy action. I wake up early, work hard, listen closely and get results for the people of Ward 2.
  • What would your top priorities be if elected? In the next four years, I want to expand access to high-quality, affordable child care, find sustainable revenue to build affordable housing and maintain our streets, audit the performance of city departments to ensure we’re making the most of every public dollar, and attract more businesses to Ward 2.
  • What do you think is the primary role of government? The primary role of government is to make it possible for every person to lead their best life. That means ensuring public safety, maintaining roads, sidewalks and bike lanes, developing good jobs in walkable neighborhoods, supporting our children, fighting back against intolerance, and siding with the people against the powerful.
