This fantastic cafe originally opened as Churro Gato Cat Cafe and was just veg-friendly. In June 2019, they made the switch to fully vegan and changed the name and concept. The owner of Alchemy Vegan made the decision based on the demand from clientele, also due to gradually transitioning to veganism himself.

The food has also changed somewhat apart from just going to all vegan. The menu has actually since expanded rather than reduced. They are a relaxed and cozy cafe offering healthy dishes such as smoothie bowls, healthy salad bowls, wraps and paninis. Although they particularly avoid meat substitutions they do have vegan cheeses, some of which are self made. The vegan cheese panini tastes divine.

The cakes are out of this world and are also self made so they are exclusive to this venue. They are particularly decadent and we especially love the creamy frosting they tend to have. They also have vegan ice-cream. The churros that this place was originally famous are on hold for the moment, but I am told they will be returning in the cold season.

They also have some of the best coffee I have tasted in Chiang Mai – I wish I knew how they get their coffee to taste so good. A variety of plant milks available too.

We couldn’t be happier with their decision to go fully vegan. The manager is always open to new suggestions and I am confident Alchemy Vegan will continue to improve.
