WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - The Wilmington Fire Department responded to a collapse of an exterior façade that barricaded off three businesses on Grace St. Thursday night, March 7.

According to officials on the scene, the collapse damaged two awnings, two cars and is affecting Tacobaby, Kat 5 Kava, and RUMCOW. A WFD spokesperson said the call for the collapse came in at 7:45 p.m.

One person also suffered minor injuries, but the cause is still unknown. The buildings at 125 and 121 Grace Street had passed Alcohol Law Enforcement inspections, and you can view the inspections at the bottom of this story.

Officials barricaded the area until it was cleared. Business owners and workers have been allowed back into the shops. The county’s building safety team had temporarily put an unsafe placard on site to limit entry until the owner got a structural engineer to evaluate the building.

Tacobaby and RUMCOW reopened Thursday.
