ABOUT MATT WRIGHT

Matt Wright has more than 20 years of professional experience in guitar repair starting in New York City at Peekamoose Guitars. During his time there Matt had the opportunity to work for professional studio musicians, Broadway players, rock stars, and hobbyists. He learned how to set up and repair guitars perfectly suited to specific needs. He eventually opened his own shop, Brooklyn Guitar Repair, out of his home. This broadened his clientele list and expanded his guitar work experience even more. Matt’s fine-tuned repair skills, quick turnaround, and attention to detail became sought after by other shops in the city, including The Music Zoo in Queens, which hired Matt in 2008 as its head guitar tech.

After 7 years in New York City, Matt relocated to Portland, OR, and picked up right where he left off, repairing guitars for Trade Up MusicPro Guitar Shop, and Old Town Music, steadily becoming an integral part of the music community.

Between working for a half-dozen shops in NYC and Portland, and having worked on literally thousands of guitars, Matt has acquired extensive knowledge of electronics and the building of most guitars. He has the ability to quickly diagnose complex problems and solve them in the best way possible. And now, with a full-service workshop from his home in NE Portland, he’s ready to get your instrument in the best shape possible whether that’s for a punk show, a coffee shop Jazz-gig, or taking lessons in your living room.

Matt also builds and customizes a few effects pedals including the FuzzStang and Superboost.
