Short review: to my surprise, prices changed from $30 something cash with tip to $78 for a low skin fade with hard part. If that doesn't hurt your bank account, he is a great barber and I recommend him to anyone.

      The longer review:
First off I want to say that abe is a great person and wonderful barber. I've only been there twice and he already remembered me. What's really cool about him is that when you sit down and before you even say or show anything to him he knows exactly what kind of cut you want/get. Even though im relatively new to seattle i can tell by what I heard from him and others that he has deep roots in the city and been in the barber industry for decades. His place has lots of character too and thats what drew me to him, in addition to old pricing structure.

Heres my criticism. The first time i went i paid about 30 something cash with tip. Now comong from where im coming from thats still quite expensive but i happily obliged as the previous place in downtown charged me $50. Now he has completed changed his prices and was charging $78 for a low skin fade with a hard part. I was absolutely shocked. I've never in my life paid that much for a haircut and I had no clue about his price changes because he has no website. I had only brought $40 cash and he was cool about that since I didn't know. It goes without saying that I will not be getting my haircut here ever again....or pretty much anywhere in seattle as it seems there no where you can get an affordable fade.

Heres the thing about gripe. I get where hes coming from. I know skin fades take time and work. Its also very clear the guy had paid his dues and given way more back to the comminity than he has received. At the end of the day though I am a consumer and this type of prices are just not realistic. It sad becaude I would love to keep going here. If you can and willing to pay this much I actually do recommend him. He is a great barber and you won't enter another shop like his. Unfortunately for me I will have to go out of state for haircuts or cut my own!

Abe is a top notch barber and top notch person. Super clean spot and follows all COVID protocols. This spot has been in the community for a minute-- support your local small businesses!

Worst!!! Barber shop I've ever been to!!! WTF Just got screamed at and told to leave waited for an hour for a simple line up!!! Really?! This is suppose to be a professional designer barber shop!! I'm so tired of black men treating us black women who want a touch up, a simple line up like a piece of crap! I do not recommend this shop for anyone!! Please save your money and your time! Not worth the wait and the cuss out! It's really Bye
they wouldn't let me post unless I added a star but it's not no stars here tho

I've been a long time customer. When I went in this weekend I noticed no one else was there. That was unusual because he usually had a lot of people waiting.

I sat down in the chair then noticed the prices have more than doubled. When I asked him about that he got super angry and started ranting about how his prices have been too cheap for years.

I just kept my mouth shut and listened to him screaming about how he only charged me $10 back in the day (the cheapest haircut I ever got from him was $25). He said he paid $10,000 for each of those chairs for his waiting customers to sit in and we were ungrateful. I didn't want to make him any angrier by telling him if he did pay that much he was ripped off. I told him maybe I'll come back another day when he's in a better mood. He insisted I stay and said he would only charge me $60. I decided to stay let him cut my hair.

It was a mistake because the haircut I got looked nothing like the one I asked for and I had listen to him continue to scream. I literally felt a sharp pain in my ear a few times. He also nicked my ear with the clippers.

Never ever let an angry barber cut your hair.

I was actually scared of him when he was yelling with scissors in his hands. He was also clipping my hair aggressively and hitting my head with clippers while complaining about how he's "been here for years giving these stupid haircuts".

I am never coming back to this place for a haircut. No wonder no one was here when I arrived.

Abe is one of the friendliest barbers I've ever met. He is very educated about COVID and how to do his work safety for both him and myself, after over 4 months without a haircut I was I was nervous about going back to a barber where a lot of physical touch is required, Abe put those fears to rest as I was completely relaxed the entire time. He gave an exceptional fade while carefully repositioning my mask as he worked, his 40+ years of experience is apparent. I look forward to getting a haircut again from him, one of the best if not best haircut I've ever had, I haven't been as excited about a haircut in years. $45 for a fade and hard part, good luck trying to get over 40 years of experience, expert attention to detail, and exceptional service for less in Seattle.

Went yesterday to clean up undercut. He will be my new go to for haircuts. I watched his attention to detail on the guy getting hair and beard done before me and was impressed before I sat in the chair.

When it was my turn he asked about length but I wasn't sure, so he cut a corner and asked if low enough or if I wanted lower. I've only been getting hair cut for 3 years but most of the time length is kind of hit or miss because barbers haven't done this. Got exactly what I wanted this time.

It is a small shop, cash only and first come first serve.

Finally, Abe is very pleasant to talk to. If you value patronizing local small businesses, it doesn't get better than this. Good service, good person, good price.

Abe was awesome! I'm in the military and am growing the hair back out after being shaved for quite some time. I hate the grow out phase because I feel like I look like a chia pet. Abe cleaned up the sides well into a nice fade and I'll be happy to return.

      Cheers

Great barber but you'll wait close to an hour or so if theres one person ahead of you. Cheap price but not worth the wait

What an amazing barber who genuinely loves what he does. Very welcoming, detailed with his work and a kind hearted guy who'll provide great conversations. For a haircut its about 23 bucks.

Just be aware that there will be times where he won't be present due to him being the only barber at the shop. Also might take a while to wait to get your haircut because he's very popular. I suggest always giving him a call before you go in.

      Overall I highly recommend.

Came here after a bad experience at another barbershop and very glad I did! Not only is it really close to where I live, but Abe is a super nice guy who shows that he values his clients, great conversation and a terrific style. Came out looking slick and feeling great. Thanks Abe!
