I've never experienced such a terrible tax service in my life. I was referred to this company by a friend who said these people knew what they were doing. On February 03, I dropped off my tax paperwork to be filed. I was quoted $50 for the charge and I was told I'd receive a call within a few business days when all the paperwork was ready to be signed.

A week went by and I heard nothing. When I called to check the status of my paperwork, the woman who answered the phone said she couldn't find anything with my name on it. She said she'd take my number and call me back. I received a call almost a week later saying my paperwork had been found and that I could go in to sign the documentation and pay for the services.

I went in to pay for said services on February 17th and I was told by a woman at the front desk that it would be $100. I politely let her know that I was quoted $50 and she honored that quote. That was nice. I paid for the services and was told they would be mailing out my taxes that day. Mailing. As in paper mail. Had I known sooner that they'd be mailing my taxes, I would've never utilized their services.

It's been 3 months and I've still received nothing. I checked my tax processing status with the state and they tell me they've received nothing. I'm so annoyed. I've been calling for the last month only to get an answering machine that doesn't give me an option to leave a voicemail because the voice mailbox is full.

Absolutely ridiculous. I'll stick with H&R Block next yet.

Best tax man in the world. Wish I can find him so I can do my taxes this year so I'm really afraid I'm going to some idiot. Al where are you? Miss you your dog and your wife

I have been coming here since 2004 and have always received great service. Al and his family are wonderful people and have always done a great job on my taxes. Thank you for everything.

Al Decker and his family runs this tax stand. I have used him since 1996, and I absolutely love their tax work. He is aggressive at saving me money and this is why I am unable to switch back to be standard tax man, who seems to work for the IRS.

Al's main approach to taxes is 'DON'T GET AUDITED." Although Al has been as bold as I have wanted him to be, he also tells you when you are creating a red flag, which is likely to get you audited, so listen to him.....

In spite of all the careful steps, I was audited in 2003 & 2004. I was very nervous, thinking I was too aggressive and there would be huge fees and fines etc... A phone call to Al's put me at ease.

Al and his wife Cheryl walked me through the audit. We gave the IRS what they wanted. There was a discrepancy of a few $100s. I paid it and that was it. It was wrapped up within 48 hours. The add'l money I paid was money I would have already paid if I went to H&R Block anyway. I guarantee I am still ahead vs. standard tax approaches.

If you want to keep as much of your money as possible, I suggest Accountable Business Services. Accountable Business Services is especially beneficial if you own your own business, have rental properties etc.....

I am writing this review so others don't go thru the same nightmare I am going through with the IRS thus I wish zero stars were an option. It's important that people understand that although Mr. Decker has experience in doing taxes he is not a certified CPA and therefore when he engages in illegal activity or basically tells you certain deductions are legit you will pay the price for taking these deductions with the IRS . Given he is not certified he doesn't have to answer to a ethics/licensing board that protects the public from fraudulent tax return preparers which in essence would pull his professional certification based on unethical/illegal behaviors. So basically having Mr. Decker do your taxes is like having your neighbor do your taxes and when you are audited by the IRS you can't say well my accountant said... It doesn't matter he is above reproach he isn't certified nor does he claim to be...(very smart on his part) so there are no repercussions and he can give you the highest return possible and when you get audited good luck he doesn't care nor is he impacted.

Basically Mr. Decker and his associates did my husbands and I's taxes for 3 years 2010-2013. Unfortunately we were audited by the IRS with the speculation from Individuals who have worked for the IRS and legal consultations that I have sought implying given Mr. Decker's history of tax fraud (state of Az and his jail time) our return and others were likely flagged because he was the preparer and is known to engage in fraudulent practices (state of Az).
During the initial audit we were reassured by Mr. Decker that all was well and he would speak to the auditor. So my husband and Mr. Decker met with the auditor which I now understand that an account/attorney should never let their client speak directly to the IRS (too much room for the client to say something stupid). Long story short Mr. decker said he would follow thru with the IRS and he never did despite his saying he was setting up meetings..I had to find out for myself that he never filed paperwork disputing the IRS claims even though he said he did. So it's been 2 years and $30,000 in lawyer fees and my situation still isn't settled!
Please avoid this man and don't be fooled by his superficial charm and all American, God and apple pie persona (I.e the waiting room is decorated in the American flag and religious plaques). He clearly knows how to present an image that makes you think he is a patriotic God fearing American... Don't take the chance it's not worth it!

Why does YELP not offer ZERO STARS? Quick update about Accountable Business Services. Al Decker and group have disappeared and off the radar. They never responded to any emails or phone calls as promised. Six figure check to IRS has been cashed and money is gone. Thanks Al for all your advice and service. If I can give you any word of advice, please RUN RUN RUN. If you are ever audited, you are on your own. The smiling face of Al Decker when you are sitting in his office will be NO MORE. Al Decker and team have ZERO responsibility because he is not an accountant. There is a reason that Al spent time in Jail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would not recommend Accountable Business Service to anyone. We received terrible service, terrible advice and an inaccurate tax return. After our experience I did a quick Google search and found many articles related to "fraud." I wish I had googled them before trusting them to handle our taxes.

I been have been using Accountable Business Services for my personal and company taxes for the past 5 years (unlike Kaki C. who lives in San Diego?) and it is a HUGE relief to have such knowledgeable and helpful people as them doing my taxes every year. Al Decker and all the staff at Accountable Business Services are not only great to work with, it is truly the finest tax firm I have ever used and I have used many. What you won't see online or on NPR or in the Biz Journal are any follow up stories reporting about how Accountable Business Services was cleared of all charges and won that trumped up case that was brought against them. That should tell you something about just how good they are at what they do. The truth of the matter is a lot of the agents at the IRS and state tax services are poorly trained, know very little, and are illiterate to many tax laws. That should be the real story. I gladly give Accountable Business Services my highest recommendation to anyone and everyone I know -- and I often do! Thank you Al, Linda, Karry, and everyone at ABS.
