Ace Roofing

We had the glass only replaced of 4 windows. It seemed great at first - they came out on time, were respectful and kind in our home, and and cleaned up after themselves. The windows do not get much "use" as they are transoms that do not open. a few months after the install, there was an ice storm and we found puddles of water inside the window. in fact there was a bubble of water on our wall where the latex paint was holding in the water.

They came out to determine if it was due to their installation and decided it was not, so they would not do anything about it. We had another independent contractor who was told we would not be hiring them to repair it (to remove any bias). They determined it is due to their work.

We well within their warranty period and now may have to hire and pay someone else to replace their work because puddles of water in my home after a storm is not acceptable.

Found these guys on Yelp and noticed the good reviews- and now they're getting another one.

We had a leak in our garage, and I couldn't see why from the ground or edge of the roof. Worked with Steve Reel, start to finish, along with other members of the team. Steve came out and figured out our problem, explained it well, and gave us an estimate (which they ended up beating when the work was finished.) The crew came out less than a week after I gave the go-ahead, and finished up in an afternoon.

He came back a few days later and inspected it, and left the bill. Reasonable price for the amount of work they did. Easy to contact, easy to deal with, and no leaks.

I will start with the punch line and tell you that I highly recommend Ace Roofing and the service of Steve Reel and his team. While our initial meeting was delayed as messages crossed paths, as soon as he received word that we needed help, he came over right away.

Our problem had been on going for several years now. On again and off again as squirrels and who knows what other habitat took comfort and refuge in our attic. We 1st heard them rustling around some years back. Being the brave one and not afraid of heights, I investigated and found where they had chewed through some of the wood and made a way in to our attic. We have and unfinished attic and they I had got in above the master bedroom with its cathedral ceiling so there was very little room for them to move around and we could hear them right above our heads.

At 1st we were able to solve the problem ourselves. We borrowed a catch and release cage and easily trapped the squirrels who were squatting in our attic. After relocating them a couple suburbs away, I closed off their entry way with some chicken wire and materials that prevented them from getting in and which they could not chew through. This solved the problem for several years. We only heard them running on the roof but knew they were not in our house.

During this time we had issues with shingles as the derecho that came through hit our house hard as there is only a 1 story house to the West of us which serves no protection from the wind. While we had that damage repaired, we had on going issues with random shingles blowing off despite having the roof replaced not that long ago.

So when the squirrels returned over the most recent winter, we knew we had a problem again. After the weather broke and it was nice enough for me to get up on the roof, I inspected to see what the squirrels had done this time around. By the time I inspected the damage and wanted to call in professional help, the weather was nice enough that the squirrels had checked out for the summer.

I turned to Yelp as with age and wisdom and now a bigger hole to patch, I knew I did not have the equipment to safely attack the problem. Of the 3 contractors that I reached out to, only 2 came to give an estimate. Steve looked at not only the hole and gap which had formed at the roofline, he noticed additional shingle damage that had occurred in random areas around the roof. He provided a quote for both projects.

The other contractor, upon hearing that the initial damages came from squirrels, refused to get near the house until I provided a certification by exterminators that the squirrels had been removed. This was an expensive and ultimately impossible task as when I contacted exterminators, their process for remove all was quite extensive. The fact that we did not have squirrels in the roof anymore made the problem even more challenging. The price they gave for the repair as assumed from their position standing on the sidewalk was the same price given by Steve. The fact that Steve also quoted the other singles and had gone up on the roof made him a clear winner.

I hired him for the job and asked to be put on his schedule. It took a couple weeks but Steve sent a guy out who spent a fair amount of time going up-and-down his ladder and taking care of all the issues on the roof. Steve followed up a bit later and I let him know that I had not yet had the opportunity to look at the work myself. After I did, I noticed there was was still one small issue that I really wanted to have corrected. Steve was quite responsive and came back over to look at the work. He sent his work man over and with a pretty simple and quick fix, the work was done.

I am quite pleased with the end result and appreciate not having to do the work myself. I know for a fact that my solution and workmanship would have been no where near the quality of what Ace Roofing did. I highly recommend you hire him for your roofing needs. I will definitely keep him in file should we have future needs or the squirrels return!

I've known Steve Reel for over 15 years...I have referred him numerous times and he actually is so honest he talks people OUT of a new roof. He educates and could not be more blunt and honest.

We had a slow leak in our roof during the deep freeze last winter and the owner came out quickly to provide an estimate. Within two weeks they came out to make the repair and a few weeks later they came to verify it sealed well. We haven't had any more issues since and it was an affordable fix. We will contact them again the next time we have any roof issues.

He is very friendly and easy to work with. The work was done quickly and on schedule, and with a money back guarantee.
Unfortunately the leak returned within about 6 months. He came by and looked at it and I had the refund check in my hands in two days.
I don't fault his workmanship on the attempted repair, he had tried a fix that was simpler and much less expensive than what it apparently needed.
But it is refreshing to have a company that stands by their work unequivocally.
