We help people become their BEST version and self improve. Some want to lose weight, some want better health, some want to look good AND feel good. We do this in our high energy workout program that's led by an amazing team of coaches and positive community of members dedicated to self-improvement and reaching goals - not just talking about them. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive group of people that challenge each other in a positive, team based manner. We push each other to become better, happier, healthier versions of ourselves by lifting each other up. Looking for an EASY program? That's not us. It's simple, but not easy what we do. Looking for a quick fix or crash diet?" Not us either - we coach sustainable habits built around a lifestyle of health and fitness as we all become better. Shaming or Egos? We leave those at the door. We're a team and group of people who value health and fitness, but don't gloat or obsess over it in a negative way. If you want to finally break your bad habits, get the results you've thought about or talked about for months or years, then this is the solution you've been searching for.

This whole thing is sketchy. A random cellphone number called me today, set up an appointment and gave me no details at all. I got a text from the same number but with different names like "This is coach Leah, thanks for confirming your appointment ..." "Hi this is John, you haven't scheduled you're appointment yet.." literally back to back. I cancelled and blocked them. Idk if this is a legit business or not but it felt so sketchy. Better safe ladies!

Hi Eli Thanks for the feedback! We just switched our appointment confirmation system over this week so that’s why you received multiple messages after by mistake. We are an established business in fairfax and have been helping people get in amazing health and shape for the last 8.5 years (check out some of our google and Yelp reviews - all real people with real results!)
We would still love to have you come in and see if it’s the right place for you - if you’ve decided to move on to another business we also respect your decision, but if that’s the case please consider updating your review. A 1 star review can be damaging to a small community business like ours where all we have is our name at the end of the day :)
Best of luck going forward,
John Casto

Just completed the 6-weeks challenge transformation with Action Fitness after having my baby and I loved it. Lost the baby weight!!! (23 pounds and 4.6% body fat) Shout out to personal trainer Ray for giving the best workouts and kicking my butt, but also helping me with my back issues (he is also a physical therapist). Great thank you to Lori for helping me in my nutrition and adapting my diet to my necessities as a new mom. Would definitely recommend this gym to anybody who is serious about losing weight. Discipline and correct guidance can help you out reach your weight goals.

This place is a complete SCAM do not be tempted by the ads or sales pitch. They bring you by telling you it is a free 6 week plan. Then take a "deposit" to ensure you commitment. After they give you a g
eneric plan they take $700 from you to work out in a subpar studio. The instructors are great but Lorie the manager is disorganized and tries to blame her short comings on clients. BEWARE and do not be tricked. Join a reputable gym.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mary W.Alexandria, VA2121Mar 11, 2022
The Action Fitness program was a total game changer. I had gained 30lbs because of covid, and truly needed to get my sexy back. Their challenge is to lose 20lbs or 6% body fat in 6 weeks. In 5 weeks and some change, I lost 22lbs and 7.5% body fat! I also lost 3 inches from my waist. Looking SNATCHED. Their team TRULY cares about your success. My main coach Jhole was super supportive, and helped me with hacks and tips, as well as motivation along the way. Ash was my favorite to train with, as he kept my laziness/cheating in check during the workouts. Sergio helped me find an amazing running/race organization, that I did a 10k with which helped immensely in reaching my goals. And Josh had such wonderfully designed workouts. Lorie is the glue of the place, and has had her own amazing weight transformation. In such a short time, they truly feel like family, and I'm always happy going to their gym. You MUST try this type of weight loss transformation challenge. ESPECIALLY because if you reach your goals, you get your initial (reasonable) deposit back. Note: You must stick to their diet and exercise requirements, but once you commit, you'll change behaviors lastingly, and start asking yourself why you haven't been eating this healthy, and working out this much beforehand. Unsolicited PSA: MAKE THE TIME for your health...and honestly, doing anything with an incredible team behind you is so much easier! Sooo I'm excited to buy the fancy purse I've always wanted with that cash I'm getting back, and will be rocking it with my hot girl summer bod (thank you very much)!

I have just successfully completed the 6 week challenge with Action Fitness. I was drawn into the challenge believing that it was free, but found out that a $700 deposit was required upfront. IF you lose 20lbs or 6% of your body fat you will get your money back. I felt that I was given very little information prior to starting the program. I was told that a "meal plan" would be "customized" for me and that I wouldn't have to worry about counting calories. The diet consists of a set list of foods that you can eat, high protein based. The amount of these set foods you are able/ allowed to eat, increases based on your body weight. Throughout the challenge, I had to keep track of everything I ate, and did indeed have to count calories.
I did lose 24 pounds by the end of the 6 week challenge. I worked out with the gym 4x/ week and was extremely strict with my eating and stuck to the meal plan. I openly communicated with my coach every week. When I did so, she consistently spoke over me each time that I attempted to explain what I didn't understand/ or questioned what she said. I adjusted my food and water intake and workout methods just as she said. At the end of the challenge, I decided to not continue with the gym due to the exorbitant cost. Despite following everything I was told, on my last day, the coach told me that most all of the weight I had lost was muscle mass.
There are some great aspects to the gym as a whole. It's a small location. Most of the coaches/ trainers are very friendly and knowledgeable. If you have problems with joints or your back they are ready to help you. If you need help in a big way like I did, and are 100% committed to following this plan and making big changes to lose weight, this could work for you.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Kristina G.VA, VA01Oct 29, 2021

I wish there were half-star ratings because I would give it a 3.5
I won my 6-week challenge and lost 11 lbs and 7% body fat. I had a great accountability coach and loved that they varied the workouts so much. You will never be bored and you will be pushed for sure! I was also incredibly impressed with how they helped me modify exercises to accommodate a pec tear injury that prevents me from doing a lot of chest exercises. I was very anxious about how I would do with my injury but Ray was a phenomenal coach and helped so much here. I was able to get strong and push heavy weights which I haven't been able to do in a long time.
As an ex D1 athlete and career firefighter and now full-time lacrosse coach, I would recommend this gym but I think it is important to be aware of a few things. I didn't appreciate that when you sign up they say they aren't putting you on a diet but a healthy meal plan. My first weeks were filled with 1200 calorie days which is literally a low-calorie diet. It was very stringent and didn't include an entire macro group. That is a diet so please call it what it is. I brought up my concerns upon signing up because I knew I would struggle with such a low-calorie diet. They tried to say it would be fine...it wasn't. I brought up my concerns a few weeks in when I was really struggling with energy and starving every day. It took till past my halfway point to finally get my meal plan where I needed it.
Also, I think that some of the exercises that are performed are a bit too advanced to be doing in a group setting where people may not understand how to keep proper form. Form is addressed on a minimal level but I had to back my exercises down to keep good form even though at times the coaches running the session wanted me to push further. If you don't understand proper form form and core bracing and you don't feel like you need modifications, this could lead to issues. Even with attention to my form I wound up with a small knee injury.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - L L.Vienna, VA813671Jun 11, 2018
It may work, but the "free" 6 week challenge requires a "deposit" of $600 to participate. If you lose 20 pounds or 6% body fat, you "receive your deposit back." If you fail, which includes losing 18 pounds, then you "get" to use your deposit against future classes at $55 per week.
Felt like a total bait and switch - "free" should be free. There shouldn't be a deposit that you can earn back, so even if it works, it feels incredibly deceptive, especially after the hour of "orientation" that includes a group interview and discussion about the program all before that tell you about the "deposit."Helpful 19Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rozie P.Washington, DC21864134May 31, 2018
As a motivation start off process? 0.2 of a star. After receiving a text (up to multiple), I realized that their 6 weeks free challenge was merely a sales pitch rather than caring for the individuals that might actually need that motivation or assistance that wasn't at a hidden cost. I hope everyone who gave a high rating receive their experience and I am truly happy for their transformation and their success. Woo hoo!!! However, as an outsider coming in to this establishment, it was clear that it is another for profit company that cares more for the sales/membership than the actual members who have already planned on purchasing their deals.
The website provides prices to certain classes available, all in which I was able to look up. I was very straightforward with my situation and I had asked what situation I would be getting into during their informative first session, and whether if this time is merely a sales pitch or would we actually get to experience something new that challenges individuals to will assist us in what we need. There is a difference between (1)choosing which work out classes you want to pay for and (2) a potential FREE 6 week challenge that you want to fully dedicate to that will convince that membership, or to give such an incredible change that they can post pictures.
Instead of offering information or even the slightest motivation, coach John send a picture of his face and offers to cancel my appointment. I had actually shared my thoughts and goals, however it definitely seems to reinforce that this is another location for profit that doesn't care for you UNTIL you give a form of payment. It shouldn't be that difficult or offensive merely to ask questions about the facilities. You don't want to waste your valuable time responding to strangers, so why would a stranger off the streets want to spend their time, efforts, and money on you?
I do believe there are good prices for group classes available based off the website. Group was about $10 per class with specific tones. Details are not listed of what happens during these classes. There are a handful that took the time who put in their reviews, however I say you find your best fit whatever it is that is healthier for you. Coach John offered twice to cancel my appointment after I asked too many questions, so I took that as a sign to consider his suggestion.Helpful 15Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - BR Y.Central Omaha, Omaha, NE01Feb 13, 2022
I just finished my 6-week challenge, was able to decrease 6.9% of body fat total through the period. The format of the workout has been just right what I wanted like a real challenge so it was satisfying. The trainers at the gym are very friendly and nice. Highly recommend if you are looking for something as a good start of your exercise. Be aware there is no locker and you need to bring your own water bottle and a mattress for your knees.
