I was looking for someone to braid my hair before my knee replacement surgery. In spite of some negative reviews I choose her anyway! SO glad I did!
She was gentle and did not make them too tight!! Her Brading method was perfect. And, almost 4 weeks later they are still looking good. I plan on getting them done again by her.

Back in April, I was super happy to land a same day appointment and was pleased with the results.

Sure, Aisha is a little talkative (talking is fine, but please don't stop braiding to talk to me, because my time is valuable). She spoke at length about her deceased sister who was the first woman neurologist in Senegal (my research says that would be Dr. Mame Salimata Diene, but I never found an obituary).

She also said some very odd things, like how all police officers should have a white woman officer in the vehicle, because white women are wise. This was right after Daunte Wright, a 20 year old Black man with a child under the age of 2 was shot to death by Kimberly Potter, a white woman officer, during a routine traffic stop because she couldn't tell the difference between a taser and a gun. Aisha's comments were clueless, uninformed, and just plain weird!

She was very particular about what kind of hair she braids with, as another reviewer pointed out. She didn't like the hair I brought, so she used some she already had. She elaborated on how hard it is to braid with certain hair, then she showed me a picture of one of her clients -- a white woman, LOL -- who had a lot of braids, and I mean a lot! Aisha bemoaned how long it took because the client brought cheap hair. I did tip Aisha generously, because she used her own supply of hair.

So it's time to get my hair braided again. I text her, and no reply (unprofessional!). So I find someone else and realized that Aisha is way more expensive than the new braider I'd found. Other reviewers have noted how Aisha upcharges. At one point, she asked me how much she said she would charge me, as if there's some kind of sliding scale based on how she's feeling that day or how much she thinks you can afford!

Fast forward to last month, I circle back around to Aisha. I send her a picture of the style I want and she says OK.

While braiding, she asked me twice if I'm sure I want this style because it won't last long. I usually get corn rows in the summer, and by not lasting long, I thought she meant a couple weeks, which is standard for me. Little did I know that she was realizing she cannot pull off the style! It was falling apart by the next day, and it doesn't even look like the picture I sent her!

Aisha can never admit when she's wrong, when she's made a mistake. I see how she responds to clients who criticize her. She's hostile, confrontational, and extremely defensive.

She stopped to talk to two other clients who stopped by while I sat and waited.

Knowing how Aisha loves to argue, yes I did enjoy a small box of wine while getting my hair done. I've had my hair done by the best of the best up and down the state of California. Some places they offer a glass of mimosa or two. But Aisha is not a class act. Far from it.

So the hair is falling apart by the next day. I ask her to fix it. She began to berate me because she says she told me twice, three times it's not a good style!

Bear in mind I'd referred my mother to her. Charged her $200 for a style that turned out really cute. I paid $150 for my style that lasted for one day, and I tipped her $50 on top of that. She also failed to return my leftover hair! And it was the expensive hair, because that's what Aisha wants. So that's $400 out of us in maybe a two day period.

So I get my mom involved. When Aisha says she can't do my hair, my mom texted a sweet approach, to no avail, so I took over the conversation from there in a far more direct manner. I'm about to leave town at this point, and I am not in the business of wasting time nor money!

Aisha and I spoke at length about my plans to move in a few days, so she knew I had a very tight schedule.

Finally, she agrees to see me. But since she's so unprofessional, she finally relented and gave me a day, no mention of the calendar date, mind you. So I go on the day of the week she said.

Of course, the door is locked. Then I have a sinking feeling: did she mean today or next week? And I will be many miles away by next week.

So I text her and she calls me back. She begins to yell at me! She's peeking out of the window while talking to me. I was desperate: I was like, just two french braids; I really need this done. She said God told her don't let me in and fix my hair. It dawned on me that I was wasting my time. I told her I will Yelp about my experience and she screamed: GO AHEAD! I hung up on her.

I found someone else, and I will Yelp about them next. 5 stars!

Aisha is an administrative mess. Didn't read the days I requested, didn't know what time she scheduled me for, and she really needs to spruce up the place so a lady can feel like a lady. TV sits on a table close to the floor. Brings new meaning to the words "hole in the wall".

Here comes Aisha to defend herself and attack me in 3, 2, 1...

I went in for a retwist. The good: quick to book a last minute appointment (same day); and she did my hair in about 1 hour 15 mins (no washing or drying, I brought my own clips since it's easier for me to just do it at home) let me bring my own twisting product

The not so good: there was some confusion over pricing, I asked how much in text and wasn't given an answer, I described my hair (how many locs I have and the approximate size) she still never replied.

I went at my appointment time, she was quick, except a couple quick breaks to eat chips (keep reading to see why this is relevant) I couldn't tell at the time but when it was done I felt as though my hair was kind of stiff. Long story short, she was heavy handed with the product but so far it's fine, it's not a thick cream so I don't expect build up.

My usual person will use a comb to get my parts super defined, she didn't, that's the reason I went to someone vs doing it myself.

Anyway, I dried my hair and as the days went on the product either absorbed or rubbed out and it's fine, it's been a week and it still looks good.

The first few days I was checking my hair to make sure the product wasn't causing build up and I was picking red crumbs out of my hair near the root.
Although she was wearing gloves during my appointment, I assumed she took them off to eat. She didn't.

I think I got them all out but that's just highly unusual.

Anyway, she's done and it's time to pay, I asked again how much, she said whatever I said...I was confused because I never told her. I said we didn't talk about it, (I normally pay $65 for a retwist) I set $80 down (she still had gloves with gel on them) she counted and said oh I thought you were going to pay $140
I said for a retwist?? I would never pay that much. The confusion was when I said I had about 140 (dreads) she assumed that's how much I was offering to pay.
Before I left I asked how much would she would charge me if I came back and she said $100
      I paid $80 and left

I don't know if I'd pay that much considering I washed, provided my own product and clips and dried my hair at home, but in a same day short notice situation maybe I would.

I have been using Aisha to do my Braids and my Dreads for the past 3 years. Not only is she the best braider in Sacramento, but she is also amazing at dreads. Prices are always fair and the work is always excellent. I highly recommend her.

I recently moved to Las Vegas and still fly back to Sacramento to have her do my hair!

Pro's: She will do a good job IF SHE FEELS LIKE IT!
Con's: Twists are loose and unraveling, parts in the back are 4x's the size of the front, hair is hanging out the twist, She said I was her only client for the day but then booked another client for 5:30pm when we'd started around 12:30pm for a style that should take longer than 5 hours (she rushed to get to the other client is where I'm going with that).

Now on to the sad part..I had my hair braided Saturday and the pictures are only a day later!!! What a mess! Heres the thing when messing someone over...sometimes they feel robbed & scammed out of their hard earned money. You made the decision to rush my hair to take another client. I work hard for my money and this review is only the start of your new problem.

And before you say it...I did say I liked my hair, but I also didn't see the back where all the problems are. The front first 3 rows look amazing! Too bad it was all an illusion.

I work really hard for my money. I finally decided to do something special for myself after months of neglecting my own personal needs and this happens. The $250 cost and the twists don't match and these twist will not last longer than a week or two.

I'll get the opinion and affidavit of a professional braider and move in a "particular way" that will prove to you that I don't play games when it comes to my money.

P.S Stop pulling the God card...he doesn't agree with you.

My response to your response. Lol why are u speaking on the shaved part? U didn't braid that part and I didn't ask you to. That's just smoke and mirrors. Why are my braids loose? Because my hair is short? Why are my parts so big? Because my hair is short? Why is there hair sticking out of my braids? Because my hair is short? Ok but my hair is longer in the back which is where all the issues are !!! Ppl can see where my hair sticks out...it is more than long enough to braid hahaha.. You're terrible. I was gonna leave it alone after my HONEST REVIEW but you sound like you wanna go to small claims court? The pictures don't lie, but instead of you owning what you did, u prefer for people to know you still got ppl coming to get braided?? Did my review say you mess up everyone's head or did I just speak on my own experience?? Now you think I had something to do with strangers reviews?? What?? Hahahaha Why would you even respond?? You're all kinds of wrong here and yes setting another appointment would have been the right thing to do however your arrogance, denial and blatant lack of respect for just doing a terrible job is just BAD BUSINESS! I made the decision not to return. Move on. God bless.

I booked an appointment with this stylist, for a short length passion twists and I was quoted $200. She told me to bring human hair. So I did. I arrived to my appointment promptly, but she stated she overslept and was not available for another hour and a half. I was very forgiving because I know it happens. She was very apologetic. We proceed to start my hair. It started out well. There was snugness of the braid to my scalp I assume because she wore gloves. When she was done, I quickly glanced my hair and rushed out the door because I was late for an event. When I got in better light and mirror, I quite few of the twists were not complete or were straight. So I contacted her. She said the issue was because the hair was human hair and she had never seen anyone use human hair before. As you can see in the screenshots, she told me human hair only. She said she would fix by adding hair. I went back the next day, brought the hair so she could fix. When I looked in the mirror, it looked even worse. She never added hair. She just braided it, so now there's a bunch of straight braids when I specifically requested passion twists. My hair is a complete wreck and I paid $200.

Update: I knew there would be a dispute over what was said which is why I included photos of the conversation. Aisha is a really nice, but seems to be extremely forgetful or something. I'm not upset she required the human hair. I'm upset she saw the end result of what she did, and was so satisfied with her work she charged $200. The hair never unraveled. I think she just got sloppy because she was running late and another client was waiting. The first couple of pieces she started in the front were fine. It was like she thought I would never see the back of my hair. Either way, she was very unprofessional in how she handled the situation. It was not a lot of work. She stated it would take about 5 hrs, she finished in 3-4 hrs.

I came to Aisha last minute to put in loose long extensions after a haircut that was too short. She accommodated me after-hours and helped direct me select my hair since I was a first timer to extensions.

She did an amazing job and has been doing extensions from Texas to CA - on dancers too so I knew I was in good hands. She braided in the extensions as it keeps the hair the healthiest. I loved talking to Aisha - she was so friendly and sweet. She was very up front and charged a good price for installing extensions - nice not to pay over $280 with tip to get my hair feeling amazing. I am very happy with the look and feel of her work!
