I have to admit I live really close to AK Auto, but never took my car here (despite recommendations from 2 friends) because I always thought I could trust the dealership. Boy was I wrong!

After my car started revving without accelerating at about 2000 RPMs, I knew there was something wrong and drove the car over the dealership. They told me I needed a remanufactured transmission, which they would be happy to put in for $8200. This didn't sound right to me since my car had only 75,000 miles on it and I always did all recommended maintenance on my car when I was supposed to, so I decided to get a second opinion.

I had my car towed to AK Auto and asked Mr. Kim to take a look at it. He added transmission fluid to the car (at his own expense) to see if it would make a difference and it started running more smoothly so he knew that the problem was not the transmission was not the problem. He recommended that I get a transmission flush. I was hesitant since it was so different from the advice that the dealership gave me (I'd just gotten a transmission exchange at the dealership 4,000 miles ago, plus they said the transmission flush would make the problem worse). But I reluctantly agreed.

The transmission flush made all the difference, and now the car runs like butter! From now on, I'll be taking my car to AK Auto!

Great business. It looks like a mom and pop store. This is a good thing. They are honest and friendly. Good prices. Won't charge you for things you don't need. I trust this place, the techs, and the owner.

My 2012 Maxima failed it's safety inspection at another auto shop due to a flashing airbag light. I suspected it being an electrical issue rather than an actual airbag malfunction.

I took my car to get diagnosed and Mr. Ki was very prompt with service. He hooked my car up to the computer, looked under the passenger seat, jostled the wire harness and the blinking airbag light turned off. The service, diagnosis, and resolution were stellar. The entire process took no more than 15 minutes.

I was charged $120 for this. Based on this math, Mr. Ki charges $480/hr for labor. I was expecting to pay for service, of course, but the price was exorbitant and in my opinion, unfair. I wanted to give this garage a chance based on the positive reviews and proximity to my home, but this was a one and done for me.

The owner I just a great and kind person with about 40 years of experience repairing cars. Wish I find them earlier. But the service was great, labor prices are reasonable, they are not overcharge you for the parts prices. They won't do the unnecessary work.
Maybe the best service in Fairfax region.

I am so blessed to have found Mr. Kim's business nearby. He took care of my BMW and I have never gone to the BMW of Fairfax mechanics down the street ever again! Those guys are too expensive and are a money making business. Mr. Kim is honest, kind, and does his job just because he loves it, not to make money. The first time I came, I think he mentioned he could have retired but stayed on because of his passion for fixing cars.

AK auto is best auto servicing, repair and maintenance shop by that I have found. Management is also very trustworthy--true to their estimates and promises.

Mr. Kim at Ak Auto is located on lee Highway and Nutley St. He provides amazing honest service in short amount of time. The shop is not fancy looking with only 3 car garage. However he gives 10 star service and out does all the dealerships,with no nonsense & fair pricing. I was a bit skeptical since some reviews seemed negative when I was doing my research, also noticed there was so much more positive's reviews & numbers don't lie. My experience out shined all the reviews & nice to find an old school shop in such convenient location. Cheers!

I came in because my brake lines had a leak from rust. I stopped by on Dec 24th (xmas eve) and they identified the issue and repaired it within 3 hours for a reasonable price. I will use them again in the future.

I've brought my cars to AK Auto for almost 20 years. Mr. Ki, the current owner, is happy work on them and repairs are fairly priced. On two recent repairs I noted the quality of the workmanship isn't as good as I would want. For example, AK fixed replaced my brakes but failed to bleed the system meaning the pedal was spongy. I had to get that redone (which he did gracefully). Also, he over-torqued my lug nuts meaning I could not change a flat tire without calling (and waiting for) a wrecker. These two simple quality control tasks had me try another shop recently.

I have been getting auto service several times at Mr. Kim's shop. He is honest, kind, and does his job just because he enjoys it, not to make money. I could tell that he is a trustworthy person, and would highly recommend his auto shop!
