Still my favorite Greek spot in the area. I have tried almost every local spot and Akropolis is the best. Their portion sizes and quality/flavor is unmatched. One of my new favorite items is the Greek Country Salad. It tastes so fresh and authentic. The grape leaves that come on top are phenomenal. The lemon chicken soup is always a favorite too in addition to the gyros. They also have the best tzatziki! Pick up orders are always ready quickly and the restaurant is always packed. Inside of the restaurant is very relax ambiance, no frills but still nice!
The only downside is they are closed on Sundays.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 2Feb 8, 2021Previous reviewHave been to Akropolis (dine in and take out) a few times now and it has always been outstanding. Very generous portions and delicious food. Their chicken lemon soup is one of the best I have had from a Greek place, if not the best. Their gyro meat and tatziki was so tasty. I love that they use shredded onion and lettuce for the gyros, I like this much better than when other places use chunks of lettuce and onion. Their tomatoes were also super fresh, other places sometimes have mushy tomatoes on gyros. I would recommend this place to anyone and will keep going back!

So yesterday I had moussaka for the very first time as i have been wanting to try it. This place is my go to for greek food so, I ordered. It was literally delicious. So good I want more....but there was an issue; It came as a sandwich width and length piece and a gigantic pile of green beans. So 1/4 moussaka and 3/4 string beans. Gross.
So I tried to call them today to see if we could do something different. I paid $24 for a pile of something I don't like with a small bit of something I love.
A kid kept answering "hello? Hold!" ....I hold
a few minutes and then tried again. Twice. So forget it I ordered from another place in the area. Lets see how theirs comes.
pic below of the plate after I ate the moussaka
UPDATE: I got moussaka from elsewhere. Doesnt even hold a candle to the one from Akropolis. Hopefully we can get them to more generous with the fantastic moussaka and more stingy with string beans lolHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Aug 2, 2015Previous reviewGranted I have not yet eaten AT the place- I have only taken out so I am going to tell you what I think about the food, and the owner.
This greek food is BY FAR, the best I have ever had. Ironically I have lived around the corner and never even noticed it in the corner of that shopping center.**kicks self****
The portions are HUGE. really though..
If you have read my reviews of other greek restaurants you know that I am a freak over Tziki sauce (yogurt sauce). It makes or breaks my loyalty to a place. You have bad yogurt sauce, Im gone. So when I asked for my usual "extra yogurt sauce on the side" it was because I am used to having too do that because that little plastic mini condiment cup that restaurants give, is never enough yogurt sauce to douse everything in...not for my taste anyway. Well- let me tell you; I was shocked. They give you a small sized styrofoam COFFEE CUP FULL of the BEST Tiziki sauce for each gyro.
I am in complete shock. Not kidding when I said huge portions. Need I describe the food portions after you just were made to understand the condiment portion size? Nope.
I ate what was left over for breakfast and am embarrassed to admit that I am eating it again now.
The place was bustling last night on my first visit to pick up dinner (Saturday night of course)..
From what I can see its a very happy family run place and the owner knows everybody and goes above and beyond. I appreciated the warm smile and courteous service.
We ordered: Calamari, a cheeseburger and fries, a gyro sandwich and an appetizer slice of spanakopita. The check was $38- there was enough food to feed 5 people not 2.5. Not half bad. (Especially that the food was Frikken amazing and caused me to eat more than I could handle and suffer from a big "food baby" In my tummy for hours afterward)
There is a ton of parking outside- The place itself looked super cozy and nice inside, but not large. I will have to go eat in house on a quiet night to get the full experience but I cant say I am disappointed AT ALL. The place is great- thumbs way up. - 610475Nov 9, 2023
Clearly a family owned place which I love. They are so sweet to everyone who walks in the door.
The gyros are great whether we order in, take out or eat at the restaurant. They have amazing tzaziki sauce and I always really enjoy the fries.
I will be honest and say that the calamari wasnt fresh and we didnt eat the dish. But everything else is so good that I can forgive that.
Solid local greek spot and we eat their food regularly because it is always delicious!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Jennifer S.Selden, NY5388Mar 22, 2024
I got lunch today in Nesconset at Akropolis, and it was delicious! The portions were humongous, and the prices were more than fair. I think the restaurant was family owned, at least it felt like it was. The staff were so friendly and super quick.
I ordered a chicken gyro and an egg lemon soup. The soup was delicous it had big pieces of fresh chicken (you can tell it was definitely homemade) and my gyro was huge I ate maybe half of it (rest will be dinner) the yogurt sauce was honestly the best I've ever had! My Husband had the Mediterranean chicken he said it was delicious and his chicken was so tender (I didn't get a picture of his,he gets aggravated when I take my "stupid food pics" lol jerk ) and my son had a grilled cheese and fries. We all got drinks, and the bill was only 51 bucks. Honestly, that's cheaper than some crappy fast food meals!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jan 8, 2024Updated review
Best Greek food in the smithtown area. Never had a bad meal here whether it be sit down or take out. Parking lot is a bit wonky with dirt patches and pot holes. But plenty of spots. Always very pleasant on the phone and in person when taking out food. Very clean. plenty of seating. Best Greek salad in all the land.

The best. Service is always pleasant and speedy. The establishment is in a what appears run down strip mall from the road but lively once you pull in. Some of the best Greek food around

Came here on a weekend for dinner and the place was packed so I highly recommend calling ahead for a table if you can. There is seating at the bar available too which opens up quicker than the dining room area. We didn't mind the wait and once we were seated, things moved pretty quickly. Our server was polite but very much down to brass tacks which we liked bc we're not big talkers. Food was prepared quickly and was super fresh and flavorful. The portion sizes are very generous and we left with a container of leftover as did almost every table we could see. Excellent spot for authentic Greek food.

Thanks to Facebook recommendations for an awesome Greek Restaurant. After Greek Village closed it was hard to enjoy a delicious Greek Salad with a normal piece of grilled chicken breast on it. I definitely enjoyed dining in this old school family owned restaurant.
The waiter was wonderful & service was awesome.
Everything was delicious. We will be back!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 30, 2023
Outstanding local spot for some great Greek fare. Delicious egg lemon soup, fresh & tasty Greek salad, and do not miss the souvlaki holy cow is it huge and tasty. The dinner generously comes with salad, veggies & rice but they are more than willing to do substitutions - I usually do the lemon potatoes instead of green beans bc they're just so good. Highly recommended if you're in the area.

The best Greek cuisine on Long Island.
When ever I'm in town, this has been my go to Greek place for over 15 years! Great staff, beautiful family owned business which makes this restaurant world class!
Cheers to the family who run this amazing restaurant! Thank you.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michele L.Ronkonkoma, NY08Jan 7, 2024
Very disappointing. Ordered pastichio
and vegetables. The vegetables were string beans from a can, just terrible reminding me of my days of school lunch. The pita bread was burnt and taste of oil. For the prices charged expected better.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
