I went here the other day to grab lunch and had a great dining experience. They have gluten-free crust (10" only), but it was just enough for a midday meal. The rosemary chicken is great with the pesto. Dairy currently isn't my friend so I had to forgo it, but you should definitely try their pizza. I added a side salad because I needed some veggies (my mom would be proud :-D).
The service was great - she checked in periodically and my food arrived in good order. The pizza arrived while I was eating my salad. They have indoor and outdoor seating so I appreciate the various options. They have tables and even a bar area so you can sit wherever you please (after checking with the hostess first). They have chalkboards with their beer choices, pizza options, and desserts overhead. It's a really cool place. I'll have to go back and try something else!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - R Frank T.Knightdale, NC632229Jan 30, 2024
Amici's in Suffolk has the potential to be a great restaurant, but for us it was only good. The bruschetta was well prepared, and very tasty, but the thickness and the cut of the bread made it difficult to get the toppings on it. Fix that and it will be a top appetizer.
The brick oven-fired pizza was good but not well-seasoned, and the crust was too charred for our taste. We had a traditional pizza, though they have some very tempting specialty pizzas, plus entrees.
They seem to have an excellent bar, with better wine offerings.

Stopped in at 712p on 1/21/24 - 45 minutes before closing. I had wanted to place two orders to go and was told that the staff decided to close early "because it was slow", so they couldn't/wouldn't take my order.
As a business owner, I don't understand that practice. Some business is better than none and it would have made sense to send some staff home on a slow night, than turn away business while the doors were still open.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 717180Apr 28, 2024
Was really looking forward to eating here based on recommendations from friends. Finally got a chance to and I was underwhelmed. While my wife's meal was good (chicken parmigiana), mine was not. I ordered the chicken Marsala and it was under seasoned, not to mention that there were literal chicken bone "parts" in the meal! For some reason, they used what appears to be frozen chicken nuggets! When I mentioned the bones to our waitress, she did not apologize or comp any part of the meal. Very disappointed. Another thing that struck me as odd was they do not serve bread with the meal unless you know to ask. The service (with that exception) was good and ambiance okay (plain building and not too loud). Honestly, I'll probably give it one more chance based solely on the recommendations of others.

Amici's is a local restaurant in Suffolk, VA. It serves Italian and American dishes and they are great! We came here for lunch on Sunday. Some of us ordered off the brunch menu and others the dinner menu.
My sister had the steak and eggs. She raved about them! The flat iron steak was seasoned well and quite tender. Her eggs and potato hash were good also.
I had the shrimp and grits. This was the best shrimp and grits I've ever had! Plenty of fresh shrimp. Andouille sausage that had just the right amount of heat and Smokey flavor. It was a great contrast to the rest of the dish. Thick, not watery, grits that were great. All of this topped with an egg.
My wife had the pasta and vegetables. A light sauce with some cheese. She loved them.
My sister-in-law had the pasta and shrimp. Plenty of shrimp and the sauce was great!
It seems like they don't have any beverages on tap. Some had a good local IPA from a can and my sister had a bottled coke.
Service was good, even at a busy time.
I'll be back.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1233391896Sep 29, 2023Updated review

Stopped in for lunch on a whim, never been here before and Italian was something I hadn't had in a while so I figured why not. We were seated immediately and was able to set on the patio which was heated. The waitress was pleasant and the food didn't take long to be brought out. The pizza was just okay to me. I loved that it was cooked over a fire and it was thin crust (have to cut calories where you can). I would go back to try some other items from the menu since this was a true Italian restaurant.

The staff was very welcoming and checked on us often. My friend ordered biscuits and gravy which came out with shredded cheese, never heard or seen that before, and it was not warm. The waitress took it back and brought out a freshly made order. However it was just Luke warm. I ordered a skillet. It was fine. It wasn't until we were leaving that we were surprised. When we sat down we were given a beverage menu and 2 menus that had breakfast foods and pork tacos to choose from. So we picked off that menu thinking that is all they offered for lunch. As soon as we walked out of the patio area to the main restaurant we saw people with delicious pizza, sandwiches, etc. I guess I learned a lesson. Ask questions.

So we ordered a New Yawker. It is a meatball pizza with perfectly thin sliced meatballs placed all over the top. We both believe this may have been even better than the other. The crust is very tasty. The staff is very friendly. Yep, we will be back in a couple of weeks.
