Andy's Bar-B-Que has been a south bay tradition since 1965. Andy's is famous for their good food, huge portions, friendly service, and cozy atmosphere. Andy's success at the barbeque comes from using only quality cuts of meat, delicately seasoning them, and then slow cooking them (up to 18 hours) over an oakwood fire.

Not a good place at all.
The barbecue tasted warmed in a microwave (after it has been grilled). The BBQ sauce was tasteless.
I can't believe they're still open.
EDIT: They are now closed.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 16, 2018
This was my first visit but it was not my husband's first visit. I am extremely impressed with the service, quality of the food, price of the food and amount of food I got. My first impression when I entered the dining area was very... Antiquated but has been told me that this place used to be some restaurant like a diner. The service is impressive. Several people, including our server, checked on us regularly to see if we needed anything else. Hubby ordered the baby back ribs and I ordered pork shoulder and regular ribs and it was delicious. They were generous with the portion.
Service: A + +

Wow this place really went downhill. The last few times I came has been very inconsistent. One time the meat was perfect and smoky and moist and another time the meat was dry and flavorless.
Today the food and service was just bad. My brisket had absolutely no smoke ring and looked baked. Hell it had no evidence that it ever saw a BBQ. The buns were obviously thawed from frozen and would crumble and fall apart in your hands as you eat your BBQ sandwich. They have also raised their prices a number of times since my first review which I don't mind, but when the quality decreases as the prices increase, this is a business failure.
As far as service, the guy who serves the people in the bar room speaks REALLY LOUD. He was talking so loud that it hurt my ear. Do you realize that when a Chinese guy tells you that you are speaking loud that really says something???
He came by briefly to ask us how the food was but he's truly only interested in hearing positive feedback because when I told him "don't ask", he took it literally and kept walking and didn't return again.
Today is a sad day. I've been coming to Andy's for at least 6 years and I'm crossing it off my lunch list.Helpful 12Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0Jul 17, 2010Previous reviewI love Andy's. I have to say this is my favorite BBQ place. It's what fine BBQ should taste like: smoky meat, tender, yet not dry. My coworkers and I drove by this place several times while cruising on El Camino and I suggested giving this place a shot. Surely the curb appeal is lacking, but I'm not shopping for a home. Besides, when have you ever seen a well decorated BBQ joint? Inside is typical plastic booth decor and old school tables, but where else are you going to find a great brisket sandwich with a load of fries for $7?
When I was given the task of organizing a dept quarterly, I chose Andy's to cater. They simply tow their portable smoker to the park and fed all of us hungry cavemen. Think Fresh Choice can do that? - Joseph S.Santa Clara, CA1063Sep 28, 2018
Locals stay away. I don't know what happened but this place has taken a turn for the worst. If you were here a week or a month ago it has changed.
No bread on the table but you can get two slices as a side.
No salad, but it can be one of your two sides.
No potato, but you can substitute one for three bucks.
Want a platter with chicken? Expect a drumstick (not a typo, one drumstick)
Prices have all been raised.
We will not be back.
Anyone have a better suggestion?Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jonathan S.Seattle, WA386347512Aug 16, 2018
Andy's bbq catered for my work place recently so I had a chance to try their bbq. My favorite was the ribs as they were very tender and fell off the bone. The chicken was really pink in the middle so I had to throw away the chicken to be on the safe side. The brisket was alright but I prefer my brisket to be a bit moist whereas Andy's brisket was on the drier side. I didn't have a chance to try the bbq sauces but they looked goood!
Overall, the ribs is a must!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 3, 2018
Last time I ate at Andy's they were in Campbell and the original owner was still alive "yah that long ago"
As you walk in there are 2 sides, on the left there is a bar area with dining tables and on the right, just dining tables. The look inside is kind of cowboy rustic meets 60's diner. I liked it a lot as it brought me back to a more simpler time.
I ordered a cheese burger with Swiss and bacon "slightly pink in the middle please" what I got was exactly that except they put on Cheddar cheese. Now normally I will take off stars for that, but you know what? The cheddar cheese "I think" was better. It was almost like the cook was trying to help this gringo out. C; The bacon "a lot of Bacon" was cooked super crispy, just how I like it. The quality of the beef in my opinion is not the greatest and I am experiencing a bit of reflex "if you know what I mean" The flavor "with the BBQ sauce they give you on the side" was very good, too good actually cuz the next thing I knew was my burger had mysteriously disappeared and I was left munching on their french fries which were also very good.
I also sampled the baby back ribs, they are very moist and come with sauce on the side. "Bit on the salty side" Over all 3.5-4 stars for Andy'sHelpful 23Thanks 0Love this 19Oh no 0 - Rick L.Sacramento, CA33212856Apr 24, 2018
Dry overcooked food - no need for a second trip. The first was the last.
I know, too harsh? No, when I've tasted the best and now the worst BBQ I don't need to ever return.
As we left we both wondered - are those smokers just for decoration? Seemly that is the case.
No smoke flavor, overcooked, dry and generally a bad experience of food.
Staff - well they did okay. Having to flag someone down, anyone, to get some more garlic bread is not a good sign.
My rule when I'm serving food is if I won't eat it - DON'T SERVE IT!
Quality control - invest in some, please.
Again - zero desire to see if this was a fluke.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 14, 2015
After getting the thumbs up (and an increase in budget lol!) to order BBQ for my office, I set out to Yelp! Done my research for multiple BBQ places that caters and finally decided on Andy's Bar-B-Que; and aren't I glad I did!
Though at first it was kind of difficult to get into contact with someone because there were so many different phone numbers listed on their website! Take a look yourself and I'm sure you can see at least 3, and one of them goes directly to their catering department (It's 408-313-5797 btw!). I got in touch with Lucie, who was helpful and cordial. I had a question regarding vegetarian options** (at a bbq place? lol) and she walked me through the ordering process online.
**Note: If you opt to sub for Boca burgers, they will just lessen the portions of the regular meats. It's so great cause you don't lose a meat option this way!
So for my specific order, I got:
Pork Spareribs
Beef Brisket
BBQ Chicken
Two types of sausage: Polish and Italian
Subbed less meat for some Boca burgers
BBQ Beans w brisket pieces inside!
Coleslaw
Mac Salad
Garlic Bread
All this for an estimated 50 people cost a little under $1000! For the amount of food we got, I'd say it was worth it. We still have leftovers as I write this review...
I wasn't able to try the sausage, but since they're gone so fast, I can only think they were good! As for the chicken, brisket, and ribs... omg so moist and juicy. The Boca burger was tasty. The coleslaw and garlic bread were standard, the beans were on the sweeter side, and the mac salad was kinda bland to me, but I did enjoy the crunchy peppers in it.
I also was delighted by the customer service at Andy's! When I went to pickup my order (I only wished I had gotten delivery for the convenience), I was met by someone sweeping the floors. His name is Sean and he was really nice and helpful. The other lady who I assume was Lucie was just as nice and helpful! She provided all the extras and had Sean help load the stuff into my car.
In the end, Andy's has made me a happy customer and I will most likely return here with some friends! Thank you for feeding this hungry group of workers!
EDIT!!!: Just tried another piece of their garlic bread and I just noticed that there are little bits and pieces of garlic on there. Wow! I ate like 4 more after that. :)Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Cybervamp _.Santa Clara, CA29146137Nov 15, 2020
