Q:
I'm told the place Ashford Pub is a bit on the racists side has anyone experienced that or heard of others who has?
A:
Not true...I'm black and there's diversity. There's black, white, asian. Whoever said that must've been here on a bad night. I usually come here on Wednesday nights for steak night and the people are all nice.

Sort of a hole-in-the-wall type place in a random strip center, but definitely and laid back and come as you are vibe. Darts, shuffle board, pool, board games, plus full bar, periodic karaoke events - this can easily become a favorite neighborhood hangout. I saw another reviewer reference the "Cheers" feeling they got - spot on!
Tons and tons of parking in the large strip center lot.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - T L.Houston, TX21686Dec 22, 2023
They finally re-covered pool tables, so I guess that's a good thing... but, $1.50 per game? Really? This is not River Oaks.
Karaoke on Friday night is pretty good with Nelson... My main complaint is with the bar. It seems like the bartenders are more concerned about their phones and their friends than they are about serving customers.
It makes it hard for me to tip more than 15%. Sadly, if you are not a regular here, best of luck to youHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jeff S.Houston, TX04Oct 22, 2023
Nice people, friendly atmosphere and cold beverages. If you're into karaoke this is the place to be... I am not, but it's fun to watch.

I loved that they offered video games! It was a very cool experience being able to sit and connect with others at the bar while playing Mario Kart! KT had other games as well. She even had a drink specials based on Mario Kart which I thought was very neat! Her service was great and I felt very welcomed! Will definitely be coming back!

Ashford Pub used to be amazing, esp with the free snacks on Thursdays for HH but those days are long gone. I found myself here on a Sunday night and the place was empty. Thats not why I say this place is just ok, its pretty much been just ok for some time now, even pre-2020. They do have a full bar with some decent craft beers but not a lot. It's mostly an older crowd that comes here and people are usually outside on the patio smoking. They have pool tables, a shuffle board and plenty of indoor seating. Lots of TVs. There are no windows here, it's dark and you would never know what time it is unless you look at your phone or something. Its a dark, hole in the wall kind of place. Staff is pretty good, never had any issues. The location is just not too desirable. If you're looking for a cheap, low-key, dark, bar this fits the bill.
Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jan 2, 2015Previous reviewThis is a classic American style pub on the corner of Eldridge and Westhiemer. There is a Bank of America ATM you'll notice first as its in front of the building in the parking lot. A tad uninviting exterior but warm, bright, open and new inside. Crowd is casual, no thugs or gang bangers. Good place to go by yourself or with a group for a night out. Frequented by regulars.
They have pool tables, a small make shift front patio, TV's, and an acceptable selection of craft beers. They have bands or a DJ on the weekends and dancing is a real possibility. Staff has been very friendly and attentive. I don't usually go for the food, but sometimes they will have snacks out at the small snack bar, usually during happy hours. They have steak nights as mentioned in other reviews. I wouldn't let the food be a deciding factor but the option is there.
As Mark W. mentions, this was the well known dive bar from Dairy Ashford. It definitely is not the same as before but it's all good. I personally like this place because of the beer selections and the friendly staff. They don't have a huge craft beer selection (5-10 maybe) but the ones they have tend to be very good picks. It's a full bar otherwise and you can find something. - Julienne P.Las Vegas, NV01077Oct 4, 2021
Beer is good. Staff is good. Otherwise nothing else to comment on. Came on a Sunday evening for a quick beer. #cheers

I truly cannot give this pub more than 3 stars.
Why?
Very simple answer to that query...this New Orleans native is a rare breed, and do not drink. I am an eater, not a drinker!
Yet, all in all, I can see the quality of why someone would come to chill here.
I went on Friday night. Walk in to tunes being spun by a live DJ. That DJ played a variety of music from Country to Hip Hop. Truly, he wasn't that bad of a DJ.
Looking around, this is a small place with 2 pool tables, a shuffleboard that is out of order, and HUGE Jenga blocks that makes a lot of noise when someone loses and they hit the floor!
Because I don't drink, I truly cannot speak on the pricing of the drinks, the potency of the alcohol, or anything of that nature. What I can speak of are multiple television screens around the place with sports playing, and a whole bunch of people sitting around, chatting and truly enjoying themselves.
Someone that drinks, go give this place a once over for me, and see if my critique holds merit!Helpful 20Thanks 0Love this 17Oh no 0 - Molly M.Austin, TX139Mar 7, 2021
Was my uncle Jerry's house and since I was a little girl I've called the ole poop deck as such. I know there's new owners and my uncles all are gone now but I guarantee you Jerry Tim Dick and Dave (osullivan) all stick around as ghosts. Plus Ashleen rocked!

Some friends and I came here on Wednesday night which apparently is steak night. I'm glad we chose to come. Be sure to get there before 6/7 they have a limited amount of steaks. Our bartender Leah was the best, she was super friendly and funny, and kept us entertained. We had some great drinks and the steak and potatoes was amazing. You also get a salad and dessert for 24 bux. We will definitely be back!
