I grew up in Mansfield and have been going to the Athens since I was little. We moved away years ago, but this is somewhere we get back to anytime we're in the area. I love Greek food and I think it's because I had such a great first introduction here.
Comparing the Athens to other Greek restaurants, in state and out, they are just sooo good! The spanakopita is amazing and better than most I've tried anywhere else. The food is always quick and they are just as busy with carry out as their dine in.
The dining room hasn't changed, completely unaffected by time. It's the same blue leather booths they've always had and it feels nostalgic, not out of date. We usually take a tray of the baklava home with us so that we can enjoy it after our visit is over.
A true Mansfield gem. If you live in the area and haven't tried it... shame! Run, don't walk and get a gyro, some grape leaves and a dessert and you'll be happy you did.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Patricia R.Blacksburg, VA140221Apr 8, 2024
What a great Greek diner!!! The gyros and the baklava were absolutely delicious. The owner is a charmer, and the staff is fantastic. This is the real thing. Don't miss it!

Family restaurant. Not too big but had a healthy number of patrons. Typical Greek menu. Also lots of good specials. I got the gyro, soup, and salad special. Totally worth it and lots of food. Good value for $15. Staff was very nice and very attentive. We asked lots of questions and they were fun and playful.
I went with friends and we all got something different and everyone liked their meal. We had chicken skewers and rice,, feta dip, cheese dip, salad, soup... all fantastic!
Prices are reasonable, plenty of places to park, cooking in front of you, nice place. I'd definitely go back!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Diane F.Memphis, TN021Apr 6, 2024
Awesome food, awesome service - super friendly. Many desserts made fresh there, handmade coffee too. Highly recommend!

Could not have enjoyed this spot more than we did. Food was awesome (gyro, lentil soup, falafel plate and more). But also the staff. Very friendly but even more than that. The owner, George, personally recommended our dishes and both he and his sister in law, Christina, spent a lot of time talking to us. And everyone else was nice with big smiles! Great hospitality. Can't wait to go back. PS - George brought me some tasty Greek beer.

This spot is a great find! My gyro was so fresh and delicious. I forgot to take a picture because I finished it so quickly.

An authentic Greek restaurant in nowheresville Mansfield. In addition, Athena is a family-owned business because one owner waited tables and the other one was in the kitchen cooking.
I had a lamb appetizer and their lamb special. The sliced lamb in the appetizer was actually more impressive than the lamb chunk. Either way, both were delicious.
Parking is on the side of the restaurant. You can't miss it because the amount of parking spots in the lot is generous.Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Roger L.Dover, OH0101May 18, 2023
Absolutely loved it. Especially George! The food was authentic and outstanding. The service was exceptional as well. Definitely a friendly environment with typical Greek hospitality. It always leaves an impression when the owner comes out, talks with you, and makes you feel like you have been longtime friends and family. A must go to place for good food and enjoyable time! We most definitely look forward to going back and taking up where we left off! Thanks George!!!

I love this place!
Service was personal and fast.
I was in Iraklion Crete Greece 25+years ago, and this brought me right back to the great flavors and atmosphere. Hearing Greek being spoken in the background was the icing on the Baklava.
Gyro meat shaved from a vertical spit can't be beat. The baklava was as good as I remembered. This was better than any in the Detroit Greek-town area.
I WILL be stopping by near the next time I'm in town.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
