Called to get an estimate cost on the work to replace the oem charge pipe on my 2017 BMW M2 which exploded during a track day at Lime Rock Park. I needed to explain what a charge pipe was to the woman receptionist, after which she consulted with the mechanic. They refused to do the work which is a simple bolt on procedure between the intake manifold and intercooler. I considered to do it myself but figured I would get an estimate so that I didn't have to struggle underneath the car without a lift. Thanks for nothing.

Great independent shop specializing in German/euro brands (eg. Audi, VW, Porsche, BMW, Mercedes), but fully capable and willing to work on domestic and other foreign cars (Subaru, Toyota, Honda). Being a euro specialist, you're going to likely incur euro-level pricing premiums (even if your car is domestic), but the work is done promptly, perfectly, and reliably -- There is definite pride in shop operations and customer satisfaction here. Highly recommended.

Our experience here has been good. When compared to our Mercedes dealership, it is even better. An oil change at the dealer, for instance, can run around $600. Here it's less than 2/3rds of that price. And the work is reliable, the accounting honest, the service friendly. Their estimates are valid. No, there's no fancy waiting room, and we've never spotted a coffee machine, and there's not a valet in sight. It is, however, a high quality independent shop where knowledgeable mechanics work on cars they seem to know thoroughly and utilize genuine factory parts. Sorry a couple of Yelpers had poor customer issues here, but so far we've not encountered any gripes about the services received. We recommend Bennett without hesitation.

I have been a customer for about twenty years. On my first visit, the estimate was actually less than quoted. Well, that was a first. They now service all of my cars (4). They use genuine factory parts, or top level equivalents. All the parts in my car are OEM spec, and I know. I am a ''gear head."

Recently I learned that another shop uses the worst and cheapest parts available, and people love them and their clean shop. Well, save yourself heartache down the road, and buy yourself fresh flowers for your home. A mechanic's shop is a shop, not a restaurant.

Sorry to go on and one, but I live in a small town, and hope to assist those who don't know, they are being fleeced by the other popular shop.

I am a weekender in Litchfield county but I have been servicing all of my cars at Bennett for at least 15 years. I have always found them reliable, dependable and trustworthy. There is no attempt to sell anything and always advice about alternatives to expensive repairs if any are needed. This place is a throwback in time to a period when you could rely on your mechanic to keep your car running without emptying your pockets. I do not mean to imply that they cut corners or work on the cheap, just that they are more honest than most alternatives. They kept my old BMW working for years and have since serviced two Mercedes and a Porsche. I will not go anyplace else for service except when Paul tells me that the job requires me to take the car to a dealer.

They made my 19 year old Volvo work again -- without the huge expenses the Volvo dealer had estimated. Reliable. Smart. They know their cars.

Terrible customer service! Called in to inquire about a service record for a car I just bought that was serviced here. The previous owner is sadly deceased, otherwise I would have called him. The lady on the phone was courteous and trying to be helpful but the curmudgeon in the background that I guess is her boss was being awfully rude, and I could hear it. Lady says to me (paraphrased), "I think you'll need to ask the previous owner's wife to come in and collect the record for you". Perfectly reasonable, and I was going to do that until I heard the guy saying, "Tell him to just write it [service record] on a piece of paper and stick it in his folder." Of course this genius of a man expects that I know exactly what was done to the car and what the mileage was and that is why I was calling. Future customer: your $0 are well spent at this place unless you're ok being treated like crap before you bust open your wallet!

TERRIBLE!!! Unfortunately I am unable to rate their service as I didn't receive any. This place came highly recommended by the man that sold my BMW to me. I figured I'd give it a shot. I made a 2 PM appointment and was there by 2 PM. I walked in and there was a man and a woman sitting behind the counter. I walk up to the counter and nobody greeted me or said anything. I finally said "I have a 2:00 PM appointment for an oil change". The woman behind the counter said okay. So I stood there looking at her waiting for further direction and she didn't say anything to me. Finally I said "do you need anything from me?" She said "just your keys" They were already on the counter so I said "okay thank you" and took a seat. After about 5 minutes The woman shouts from behind the counter "can you come back at 4 PM?". I got up and walked over to the counter and said "well I'm pretty far. It took me about 35 minutes to get here" (in a very polite manner) The guy who was behind the counter was upset at my response so he said "WELL SHE IS GOING TO HAVE TO WAIT OVER AN HOUR!" Yelling at the poor woman behind the counter. She said "I know, I told her that" Which she didn't really tell me that. I figured they might be trying to prioritize which jobs to do first and since I had an appointment and traveled pretty far for an oil change I thought they could squeeze me at my already scheduled appointment time. I guess that was too much to ask. I was working from home and couldn't be gone for 3 hours so I just said "I can't wait that long, I'll figure something else out" I regrettably slammed the door a bit on the way out but I just wasted an hour for nothing and was a bit upset. I was extremely polite and didn't appreciate the lack of customer service and the attitude from the man working there. The poor woman was so quiet it seemed like she was scared to talk in fear of what the guy would do to her. Definitely do not recommend this place! If I could give negative stars I would.
