Staff at Bethesda Family Dentistry are fantastic and easy to talk to about bills and appointments. Dr. Tabb is a highly experienced and pleasant professional who tells you exactly what's going on and gives you a whole view of what needs to happen now and what's best for the future. She is also very flexible and understands on a personal level. Overall, fantastic experience and will continue to be a patient there!

Cause me TMJ after constantly asking me to do a deep cleaning which I don't want . 2 years ago and made me a mouth guard that doesn't fit right and cost me $ hundreds . Had my mouth wide open for an hour and the helper didn't num my gum and injected into my gum causing pain . Haven't been back I went to my old Dentist .

I recently moved to the area and moved my dental care to this clinic. measured how much my gums were receding and told me I needed an enhanced teeth cleaning procedure to prevent further recession. The dentist assured my this was a necessary procedure and would be covered by my insurance. $600 later I found that the procedure was ineffective and unnecessary so my insurance would not pay for it. I have never had an issue of this type with any dentist ever, I would strongly caution anyone from going here.

Do not go here. You will experience billing issues and will not be able to get support from the office staff at all.
I was referred to the Fernwood location for periodontal surgery. Dr. Vahid did my surgery. Prior to the surgery, I was given paperwork with a cost-estimate. I later learned from my insurance that the dental office did not get pre-approval for the procedure so my insurance did not cover any of the $5000 surgery. The insurance sent Dr. Vahid a letter requesting periodontal measurements. In response she wrote 3-4 sentences justifying that I needed the surgery. My insurance denied the entire claim because she did not send them the measurements they requested. The crazy thing is, I have been going to the Executive location (where I see Dr. Cuevas) for almost 10 years. Bethesda Family Dentistry has almost a decade of my periodontal measurements.
I am still working to file an appeal with my insurance, but it has been very hard to get Bethesda Family Dentistry to complete the form with my measurements. I have e-mailed and called several times and been promised the form. Finally, I physically stopped by the office to ask for a copy of the completed form. It was 4pm on a Thursday. The door was locked, but I could hear staff inside. I called and a woman named OIga said she would e-mail the form to me. I never received the e-mail. I am beside myself. I don't think I will ever get the document I need to get the surgery covered by my insurance....even the representatives I spoke with at my insurance company said that this office did not do their "due diligence."
The surgery was a year ago, so I had to pay Bethesda Family Dentistry out of pocket to avoid being sent to a collections agency. This was a really awful experience. At this point, I now need to look for a new dentist and a new periodontist. I don't trust this practice at all anymore. I don't recommend you go here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lucia M.San Francisco, CA0148Aug 29, 2022
This dentist office has cost me a painful month and a half, in additional to a large dentist bill. They are all about expensive procedures. I made the mistake of trusting them and not even checking yelp. They told me I needed two crowns- which I had never been told before- but I thought it was the result of not going to the dentist during covid. I went to this dentist with just a little sensitvity in two of my teeth and I am now having discomfort eating and need additional fixing from another dentist to fix my bite. My smile has changed and not for the better--they probably wanted to sell me something additional for that. They are very helpful and accommodating during the procedure but does that really make up for recommending an unnecessary, painful procedure in the first place? Please heed all the warnings about this practice and save yourself a painful, unnecessary experience.

DO NOT GO HERE!! This dentist is better at billing and pushing expensive, unnecessary procedures than actual dentistry! Both my husband and I started as new patients and were told things we'd never heard before from other very reputable dentists. We both had no issues or discomfort when we went in for initial routine cleanings. They have now caused a crown and filling issue for each of us that we're having to have second opinions on and pay even more to get fixed by others.
Save yourself time, pain, and a lot of money and avoid this place!!Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Laura P.Rockville, MD110Jan 27, 2022
I was a new patient when I made my appointment for a cleaning. I was told I was due for full X-rays and I was told my insurance would cover cost. I was told I would be getting 18 X-rays. By the time my 18th X-ray was taken, my mouth hurt, I had a headache and the whole time I was saying to the technician that I never had this many taken and I had no known issues going on.
I was then told I had many dental "issues" by Dr. Tabb. She said I had multiple cavities and needed crowns, etc. Since then, I had a 2nd opinion by another local dentist and provided copies of my X-rays. She even took one more because some were so blurry she could not examine correctly. Her result was my teeth were fine! No cavities and no crowns needed! I am thrilled with this outcome. Shame on Bethesda Family Dentistry and shame on Dr. Tabb.
They are obviously lying and overcharging patients.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Katherine B.Rockville, MD01Nov 10, 2022
Very disappointed with this practice since the departure of Dr. Badahkshan from the Executive Blvd location. I have experienced the same problems with the Fernwood location as many other reviewers, including unnecessary procedures, lack of transparency in pricing and limited explanation of recommended treatment plans, problems with insurance billing and refunds, and most recently, difficulty in getting a response to my request for dental records. I had better experience with the Executive office, but I am very glad to be leaving this practice.

Deborah Tabb is a fraud. I went to her about 2 years ago after moving into the area. She told me I had cavities on the left and right side at the top that needed fillings...in hindsight I realized she showed no x-rays as proof. A dentist has never lied to me about needing cavity fillings before so it didn't dawn on me to get a second opinion. She did the fillings and also recommended sealant. She gave me a quote less than $100 or so for the sealant, claimed they checked my insurance and told me what great benefits it had after my cavity fillings. Come to find out the sealant was NOT covered by my insurance so I paid hundreds more. The front desk assistant looked so embarrassed when she told me this and said she wasn't sure why Deborah Tabb told me this and apologized (I got the sense it wasn't the first time Deborah had done this). She went to the back and told her my insurance wouldn't cover this. After my cavity fillings I had some jaw pain so I got a second opinion. That dentist told me I didn't even need cavity fillings based on the X-rays they took before the procedure. They also told me most insurances don't cover sealant for adults, so they questioned Deborah Tabb's practices. The jaw pain was resolved after adjusting my bite after the filings but Deborah is clearly desperate for money or just plain greedy. She's not ethical so my experience compelled me to give a review. Be cautious of this one.

This is by far the worst dental practice I have ever been to. They messed up my appointment multiple times (sometimes it is time, sometimes its the location they messed up) and I dont know what kind of charging system they use or send to my insurance, they always charge me more than i supposed to. One time, they booked me to their second location which I don't understand why they would put me in a different location while I have been going to the same one. I understand sometimes going to a different location is necessary if the Doctor is there, but they don't give me a call or text to let me know in advance, so I was running around all that time and was not able to be seen. The second time, they booked me for 11:15am, but I learned my lesson, so I purposely called them before I go to make sure the location and time, then they told me its 12pm.. OMG! Get things right please!! Now talking about fees, I honestly don't know what they put there to send to my insurance. I have really good insurance coverage, i dont have to pay out of pocket for my dental cleaning. But with them, its $20 something. per them its different cleaning? and I pay $15-20 out of pocket per fillings in my old/other clinics, but with them they charged me $200ish for my 3 tiny fillings. Per them, my insurance doesnt cover that much, i dont know what kind of filling service they put there to send to my insurance or what kinds of golden composite they put in my teeth?!! I kept going back bcuz i wanted to experience more before I before I give my opinions. But this time, it is done. I'm so over it. Go somewhere else.
