STAY AWAY!!! Tracy White is currently filing for bankruptcy and is closing his Huntersville/Charlotte, NC and Raleigh, NC offices. He took my initial deposit in March 2023 and work was not started until August 2023. 3 payments totaling nearly 30k have been paid and yesterday I received notice that my project will not be completed. I literally have NO KITCHEN at all. When I reached out to Tracy for a refund (he cashed a check most recently on 9/8) he said he was sorry but he is filing bankruptcy and will not be refunding any money or completing the project. I am not the only client this is happening to. DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH OR GIVE THIS COMPANY ANY MONEY, you will lose it all.

I regret the day I ever contacted Better Home Improvements to have my deck replaced. What a nightmare the job turned out to be.

Over a year ago, my wife and I decided we would like to renovate our master bed, bathroom, and closet. Thus began the task of contacting local contractors within a short radius of Forest. This started the process of frustration and confusion about why it was so difficult to find a local contractor. We even had a contractor working on plans for the 3 phase renovation, knowing this might turn contractors off, but that was OUR goal. One particular contractor started but never finished the process of even coming up with plans, let alone, setting aside the time to discuss a budget, but just keeping us on a shot enough rope of hope.
This is about the same time I saw a commercial for Better, Bath and Kitchens out of Salem. This was another immediate worry; if we cannot find a local contractor, can we count on someone out of town.
We met with Tracy, owner and general manager of Better Bath and Kitchens, on revolving times due to our schedules. We told Tracy about our 3 phase concept, Tracy seemed extremely flexible but we were still worried. We met with Tracy one year out from the initial start. Again, worried this would be a turn off, we decided to keep pursing locally, again, no luck.
Then about 6 months out, Tracy contacted us to see if we were still interested. Our comment to him was yes, with my wife and I approaching it from the standpoint of "lets see what happens next." My wife and I met again with Tracy, at this point we took the leap of faith with Better, Bath and Kitchens which turned out to be an amazing experience.
Once the wheels on phase one started, everything started to fall in-line. The blueprints were just what we wanted. The budget right where we established and did not change except when I added a few things.
The general contractor on site was amazing. Extremely talented, easy to talk to, worked the set time established from start to stop. When there was an adjustment to the schedule we knew ahead of time. Again, very creative, helping us with ideas to fulfill our goal. Could not have asked for things to go better with the contractor.
At the conclusion of phase one, I contacted Tracy about an adjustment that none of us had foreseen. I told Tracy I understood that if we need to pay due to the fact this challenge fell outside the blueprints and budget we would be glad to pay for labor and parts. Tracy met with us yet again, and his response: "this was something they should have foreseen." He scheduled the general contractor to return to adjust to our needs at no additional expense. Tracy's quote, "they were here for us." And they were!
It was truly an amazing experience. I would highly recommend Better bath and Kitchens based on two reasons: they set the tone by establishing the relationship, and second, the work completed was exactly what we wanted when we necessarily did not have all the answersHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Irene R.Blue Ridge, VA022Dec 25, 2018First to Review
We had a kitchen remodel done by BB&K earlier this year and we couldn't be happier with the outcome. The workmanship was detailed and complete, the staff was friendly and reliable, and the management team's communication throughout the process was top notch. Good work starts from the top - Tracy White and team were excellent in their communication with us and attentive to any needs/changes we requested during the remodel. Having never undertaken a large remodeling project like this, we were a bit nervous going in to the contract but Tracy and the management staff walked us through the entire project so we knew exactly what to expect. We were very impressed with our installer and would recommend BB&K to anyone. As a matter of fact, we're planning to have BB&K quote us on 2 bathrooms in the near future.

I would have to give BB&K 5/5 stars just because of the finished product. It was a rough start and took an extra-long time but overall, I'm thrilled with the results and expect to have them come back for more work. This started out as a kitchen remodel and turned into so much more. For starters, I had them put in new tile flooring throughout half my house (a double-wide). They also adjusted the roof over my back porch so that it slanted AWAY from my house so that when it rains, the rain no longer comes in thru my back door! During the job, I asked for and received 3 new windows and a new back door, which was not that easy since this IS a double-wide and requires special doors. For the new windows in my dining room, I asked for a real windowsill and Bill built it for me. In fact, Bill was so awesome that it would take a book to sing his praises! Not only is he professional and well-educated in his field but in many other 'fields' as well! I learned quite a bit during the whole process and I'm no novice at home ownership. All this was on top of a rather large remodel already with all new appliances, all new cabinets throughout the kitchen and laundry space, granite countertops and bar in addition to new lighting overhead and under cabinets. I chose some seriously different backsplash tiling which Bill did, not only a very professional job installing, but added some creativity of his own. He's a perfectionist, which I just love! In addition to the main project, I asked for and received some extra handy-man help as I live alone and am a bit handicapped as well. The end result of all the time and effort is that my home is not only in a great state of repair (no more sagging floors and collapsing cabinets) but I am more organized than I could have thought possible. Remodeling is always a stressful condition and issues arise inevitably. With BB&K, all issues were addressed and resolved. I am now proud of my 'new' home!

We hired Better Bathrooms and Kitchens for a total master bath renovation. Tracy, the owner, was true to his word on everything we discussed and was very responsive and flexible when it came to change orders we implemented along the way. All of the contractors that the company sent to our home were respectful, polite and professional. The outcome of the job was exactly as we envisioned and we could not be more pleased. The transformation of the room was amazing. Tracy is very astute and skilled when it comes to taking a job from concept to reality. This was our first major renovation project using a contractor and we always felt as though we were in good hands. This company has a high degree of accountability when it comes to ensuring that the work is being done as scheduled and is very focused on customer satisfaction.
