We went to the restaurant asking about outdoor dog-friendly seating, but they don't have it in the off season. So we asked about to-go orders and they sent us to the market next door.
We were able to order quickly and our food was ready within 20 minutes. The seafood was fresh and delicious. All the fried seafood (oysters, seafood combo) were great and the crab cake sandwich disappeared in a few minutes. My grilled scallops were flavorful and tender, not rubbery at all. My only complaint is I think they gave me one wrong dish -- I had ordered the teriyaki glazed scallops with saffron rice and fries, but they just gave me a scallop skewer with fries. Regardless it was still delicious!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Our service was very attentive and thoughtful. We split our salad and dinner and were really full. I loved the tuna fish dressing and crackers as a starter. The Brussel sprout salad was crisp and fresh tasting. Loved the scallops and oysters we shared. He ate all the shrimp. Loved the fresh spinach and green beans. We mainly came because it's pi day. They had two pies we could use to celebrate it with. We are going for peanut butter pie.
Restaurant was very clean and I loved the paper and crayons on the table. I also appreciated the old bay seasoning on the table ready to use.
The pie was not too sweet but decadent. Love! Thank you so much for putting the pi symbol on the plate for him.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 5, 2021
The food is good. The customer service could use some improvements. The take out counter is a bit slow with helping customers. There are a lot of staff working in the kitchen, at the fish counter, and two cashiers taking orders. There's two people in line...it took over 10 minutes for them to take orders. These were not big orders, only 3-4 items.
The staff were not helpful, they stood around talking to each other, looking bored, and texting on their cell phones, etc.
Once we got the food-it was delicious. We ate outside at the picnic tables. There were no trash cans anywhere to throw the trash away--which is weird because they had a lot of tables and chairs for people to eat right outside of the market. Where do they expect people throw away trash when they're done???
I see a lot of people picking up catering orders while we were eating outside. I guess it's more conducive to do that, rather than order take out lunch there. The food IS good. The service at the counter is not. A little tweaking on the customer service would improve this place so much.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 18, 2021
The front desk staff at my hotel recommended that I visit Big Fish when I asked for recommendations on where to get good crab cakes, given that they are a seafood market, expect more turnover and the seafood to be fresher.
Visited one Saturday afternoon around 4PM and the store was pretty empty, waited about 15 minutes for the order to be ready. Ordered the crab cake entree that came with 2 crab cakes and 2 sides (picked mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach), the market price for the entree was $40. The crab cakes were of good size, had jumbo lumps of crab, very little filler, and loved the creamy dipping sauce -- very satisfied with the crab and the sides. Definitely would love to come back again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ronald n.Boston, MA053Jul 30, 2023Updated review
I wrote a "TWO_STAR" review a week ago and though the problems with that order were real and annoying and had given me reason to find other places to buy seafood, the manager called me, apologized and sent me a generous gift card. It is one thing to screw up an order but there is good reason to see this glitch in the service of the order I received on July 15 as a one-time thing and I have a renewed confidenece that the Big Fish Market will be the quality place I have known in the past.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 16, 2023Previous reviewOrdered, easily a week earlier, 3 dozen shucked oysters and a small sashimi platter to srerve ten people.. I would say 75% of the fresh and tasty oysters, though shucked, did not have the attaching muscle cut. My guests were struggling to rip the oyster out of the shell and my Rockelfeelr also became a mess since the oysters still had the muscle attached to the shell. Eating them became a bit of a mess and an embarrassment. The oysters were good and fresh and well packed but what's the point if you have to cut the muscle yourself. Let's get to the travesty of the sashimi tuna platter, which I purchased for $80. The tuna itself was perfectly done with a slight sear and a beautiful and fresh red flesh. The noodles however, were absoultely awful. I know what this dish should be like since I have gotten it many times and the "cold Hawaiian noodles" were neither fully cooked nor tossed in anything. Yes they were plain, naked, cold very, and very al dente soba noodles. No sauce of any kind on them. There was ample seaweed but only four small slices of picked ginge, a half teaspoon of wasabi and a small container of soy. They were the containers you might get ketchup in with a single order of fries or a hamburger not with a large platter feeding over ten people. It looked great, but was totally awful. I eventually doctored up the noodles with some sweet chili sauce ,but it was another embarrassment . Someone preparing the food doesn't care or doesn't now what he or she is doing. Won't be going back there again for anything other than a piece of fish to cook at home.

Are you all aware of their lunch and dinner carry-out menu? We use it as a grocery store - primarily for seafood, but occasionally we'll grab other stuff (e.g., cheese, sausage, crackers, salad etc.). If we lived closer, you can bet we'd be dining on takeout from this place on a regular basis.
As a market, the selection tends to be higher-end and a bit limited (i.e., think seafood market + other useful items). The seafood selection, however, is high-end and terrific! Sushi-grade Tuna. Amazing (cold) smoked salmon... the list goes on... very nice!Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Kimberly O.Collegeville, PA04737Aug 1, 2021
Grabbed takeout from Big Fish Seafood Market on a Sunday evening and food was ready within 25 minutes. We ordered a regular jambalaya (side of French fries), which we found out was also gluten free. I'm severely gluten sensitive so I ordered gluten free crab cakes with sides of the sweet potato mash and spinach. My husband said the jambalaya was good, not too spicy, and a lot of food (he could barely eat half). The 2 small GF crab cakes were tasty, but incredibly tiny, and did not come with a side of sauce. But the sweet potato mash and spinach were good. My food was not filling at all, yet was double the price (jambalaya was $20, two GF crab cakes were $40). So for the taste aspect and to be able tenjoy gluten free crab cakes, I would give them a 5. BUT the price and ridiculously small portions for the gluten free foods would be more like a 3.

It pains me to write this because I've been a fan for 15+ yrs. I got salmon carry out & the salmon was overcooked & tasteless. Then I was sick after eating it. A few nights later I picked up a spinach salad & wound up throwing it away because more than 1/2 the Spinach was too rotten to eat.

The best we have found in Rehoboth for fresh uncooked fish. There is a seafood market about a block before that we stopped into first that had no selection so finding this place was great. We also tried the 'fresh market.
Big fish had no flounder, sole, or Chilean sea bass when we stopped in, however their sushi grade tuna was excellent and they had black and while sesame seeds to compliment. They were also very accommodating to cut pieces whatever size we wanted.
They had a verity of cheese and cut cakes that looked tasty. We tried a prepared potato au gratin from their salad & sides but this was a fail. We took two of them. They told us it's precooked just heat in the microwave the first one we heated and it was crunchy (had the consistency of half cooked onions). The potatoes were hard and undercooked. The next one we cooked for at least 5 then +2 for the same result. We threw them both out. .
They are a small shop so they're not one stop but they have a thoughtful selection worth checking out and we'll be back. The second time we stopped in was closer to dinner time and their parking lot was full. Their restaurant is right next door and draws crowds.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
