Delicious bistro with some nice ambiance.
My husband and I went on a lunch date, it was perfect. We ordered the Brie potstickers with apricot jam, two glasses of wine, and each got the blackened chicken sandwich. Everything was incredible!
At the end of the meal there are complementary cookies. Nice touch.
There is a full bar, bar seating, booths, and tables. Call ahead for large group reservations. Ample parking in the lot.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Olin C.Reno, NV1287417Dec 31, 2023Updated review
Not recommended.
This is my third visit to Bistro 7, and they have consistently given me reason to complain. It's seldom ever the service, which has ranged from good to great. It is occasionally the kitchen, offering tasty food cold (twice now), or adding something you asked to keep out. But my biggest complaint is the lack of value, and their reliance on being seen as a 'posh' restaurant to excuse their behavior.
Ultimately, for close to $150 spent per person, I couldn't give our experience more than two stars... and that's only because Sarah was a good server.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Dear Olin,
Thank you for coming in again to dine after all these years. We do have an awesome hardworking staff and we are so glad that you enjoyed the service, food and ambiance. But I would like to respond to your other issues if I may. We have 3 entrees over $40, most under $30 and some under $20. We do serve high quality products and you are correct it is not inexpensive to serve quality.
Our specialty cocktails range from $9-$12. We pour 6 oz glasses of wine which is a little more than you find at most Reno restaurants which typically serve 5 oz pours...although some of the casino restaurants pour whopping 8 oz glasses! I apologize our draft beers were down the night you were here. Sometimes things break and that is beyond our control. However our domestic bottled beers are primarily $4... they go up $8 for craft domestic beers - but they cost more for us to buy than a mainstream domestic beer so that cost is reflected there.
When the restaurant is really busy there isn't much we can do about the overall noise. The carpet and insulated ceiling make it better than a lot of places for noise but when it's really busy it does get noisier. And then there is the unruly child that disrupted your meal. You have no idea how much I understand and appreciate your frustration over that! We get lots of families with children at B7 and most of them they are wonderful, well behaved and polite children...but then there are those just as you described, running all around, screaming, crying, throwing things and their parents take no notice of how their child's behavior is impacting other diners.Things have changed a lot since we were kids! You gave us a 2 star yelp after actually enjoying the service, food and ambiance - you have no idea the social media backlash we would get from telling a person how to parent their child. Politely asking a parent if they could please keep their children seated and to stop yelling seems to be outrageous and highly offensive to some parents today so I am sorry about that one we are very much in between a rock and hard place. :(Feb 9, 2019Previous reviewIt has been more than six years since my first visit to Bistro 7, and looking back at my previous review I can see that some things have changed while others remained the same.
The good: Service. Food. Ambiance.
The bad: Price. Portions. Noise.
Service continues to be a standout feature for Bistro 7, and our server was courteous and attentive. The menu remains remarkably varied, with something for everybody. Furniture and decorations are upscale, but not overdone.
Unfortunately, all of this comes at a price. I understand that money keeps the lights on, but $8 for a domestic beer (when draft beers our out of operation no less) seems excessive. So does $14 for a cocktail. Wine pours were also rather small. Still, we enjoyed all of the above, but price definitely stood out in comparison to other places. Portions were also modest: not too small, but not worth the $30-40 price for most plates.
Noise also became an issue, as the overall volume was quite high for the Thursday evening crowd, but was made worse by the young couple sitting nearby who allowed their child to play a game a ear-piercing volume. It's not up to guests to keep people respectful of others, and the staff failed to give this matter any attention.
Overall, I find that this latest experience was enough for me to continue admiring the food and service, but not enough to forgive the detractors and bring me back. Bistro 7 is post without being pretentious, but it lacks reasonable value for casual diners.Dec 8, 2012Previous reviewMy first visit to b7 was for a holiday dinner party with a group of roughly 20 guests. The bistro itself is very nice, with sophisticated nuances and elegant decorating... the perfect place for a dinner date. Our group occupied the exterior room, which opens up in the summer yet kept us perfectly warm on that cold winter night. Calling yourself a bistro implies you're not quite a restaurant, which I feel miscatagorizes b7 since it out-classes the majority of restaurants in the Reno area.
The staff were all very courteous and attentive, showing experience as well as appreciation for the guests. Some places merely serve your meal, and bistro 7 demonstrated a willingness to serve the customer. Our table was checked and drinks refreshed very often, despite a single server and our large group.
The appetizers were all tasty, and very classy. Unfortunately, I don't see any of the four items we had in our group listed on their website menu.
Food came timely, was very well presented, and there wasn't a single problem with any of the meals in our group. I had the filet mignon, which b7 lists for $38. The steak was cooked perfectly, and was large enough to satisfy.
Perhaps we had a special party menu, because I question the chef's food pairings on many dishes. The "sweet potato crisps" (sweet potato chips) and single head of cauliflower served with the filet forced me to order a side of mashed potatoes because neither of the included sides matched the steak or were suitable as main course sides. The wilted (steamed) kale that came with the salmon was especially bitter, and nobody ate it.
I'm pretty sure our group had one of every dessert bistro 7 makes on our table, and they were all outstanding examples of what other restaurants should strive for after the main course. The apple blueberry button was phenomenal!
Overall, I was extremely pleased with bistro 7. The service was top-notch (Sarah really hustled), which is hard to do with large groups. I plan to return on another night to test their standard (non-party) dinner service, and see if that delicious steak comes with real side dishes. Plus I want another helping of those desserts. - Susan W.Reno, NV04115Dec 21, 2023
Quality of food was very good.
Excellent waiter.
Ambiance was very nice. Lots of room when seated. Not to much noise. Was able to talk in normal tone.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 16, 20241 check-in
Restaurant was very warm and inviting. Our hostess, that sat us was extremely nice. Sarah, our waitress was fantastic. Started out with a special appetizer of frog legs, was very interesting but good. Could've used a little less breading. I had the 14 ounce ribeye. It was tender and delicious. My wife had the bison Bolognese, was excellent, and the Bolognese sauce was spot on. We would definitely come back again.

My wife has been frequenting this place, but it was my first time.
Quality/Quantity - Bison Bolognese - Pappardelle, our current favorite pasta. Good flavors, could not distinguish the bison in the sauce. And for sure, it was not enough for 3 to share. Yes, we thought we were NOT hungry...
Special 24oz CAB porterhouse - Couldn't decide on the ribeye or this, as I have been eating all day today (if you are following)??? Not sure why, but I thought this was going to be bigger. 3 of us shared this and I am not sure if they were still hungry? I actually ate much more than I expected. I asked if the chef could cut for us, sadly no. So I took a picture of my poor cut/slice job, LOL.
1/2 lb. Bison Burger - Impressively my daughter finished this without help. Again I thought we were NOT hungry...
Grilled Fish Tacos - Just okay, better with the salsa.
Beaujolais Villages - Château de Varennes; not an expert, but did not feel I got all 6 ounces of the pour, see picture. The wine was good, and light as I expected.
Many good wine choices, I might come back for this and Happy Hour.
Atmosphere -
Good size location.
Cool decor. Semi private room, cool shade, curtain.
Even the bathroom had cool decor, see picture.
Bar seating is also available.
Semi open kitchen.
Open 6 days a week, see picture, Yelp, or website. Closed Sundays.
Service - Good. Both team members were good.
The bus girl is such a hard worker, getting us our drinks and more drinks, etc.
I also saw her busing the nearby tables, again working so hard and fast. I should have gotten her name.
Price - $138 + tip.

Our first time here and we loved it! It's a beautiful venue - swanky inside. We started out with drinks and shared the calamari appetizers - which was excellent - very tender and no tentacles - good dipping sauce. I ordered the mushroom and pepperoni pizza which was hot and cheesy. Others in my group enjoyed their chicken sandwich and pasta dishes. Friendly and prompt service, too.

Outstanding service and an excellent happy hour menu!
The goat cheese beet salad with grilled salmon is delectable! The salad is healthy, delicious and has the perfect amount of fresh citris dressing. I'll order it everytime!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Conner S.Reno, NV094Mar 20, 2024

Great selections on the menu, like cedar plank pesto salmon, bison bolognese, chicken piccata. There are also pizza and sandwich option. The wine list is excellent, great selections and reasonable prices. Elegant but casual and comfortable decor. Service is friendly and well paced.

So many great things to say here about Bistro 7. Decided to go here after a friend flew into town. Made a reservation for 6:30 and was seated without any issues. We were sitting at a table but saw the bar area also looked like a great place to sit. The service was on point, with a great waitress.
The signature basil drink was great! Definitely try it. You won't be disappointed. Appetizers were fried green beans, pot stickers, and truffle fries. The truffle fries barely had a truffle taste; the pot stickers were tinny; I wasn't a fan. I would order the fried green beans again. The dipping sauce was delicious.
I ordered truffle Mac and cheese with bacon, jalapeño, and chicken. It was epic! A lot of food, so the next day's lunch was fantastic. The rest of the table had pizzas. All was GONE.
I'll be back here again for a nice relaxing dinner.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
